History was made in San Diego as Bruce Chen(3-1) tossed a no-hitter and the
San Diego Militant Pugs defeated the Renton Microbrews by the score of 3 to
0.

The partisan crowd cheered every Renton out from the 7th inning on. He had
excellent control, walking only one. The tension was mounting with every
inning after the 6th. Chen appeared oblivious himself to the mounting
history until two were out in the 9th. Only then, did he allow himself one
deep sigh and a slow trip around the mound. Neither team managed to score
after the 4th inning.

Odalis Perez(8-3) was the losing pitcher. 'Chen pitched one heck of a game!'
Craig Elsten said. 'He didn't get away with any bad pitches because he just
didn't throw any bad pitches. What a performance!'

tossing a perfect game and the Wichita Whiffers defeated the Beechhurst
Beguilers by the score of 4 to nothing.

Johnson was just too much for Beechhurst. The tension started to build around
the 6th inning. By the 9th inning the crowd was electrified. Johnson mowed
down 11 Beechhurst batters. Wichita finished with 10 hits in the victory.

Frank Castillo(0-2) ended up with the loss. 'I gave it everything I had. It's
probably the greatest day of my life,' Johnson said. 'I was out there
focusing on my catcher's glove, that's all. I just concentrated on pitching
my game.'

Pedro Martinez(8-3) was on top of his game in Wichita as he tossed a beauty of
a no-hitter against the Wichita Whiffers. The Kansas City Tornadoes won by a
score of 8 to 0.

Martinez had overwhelming stuff tonight. He simply never gave the Wichita
batters a decent pitch to drive. He surrendered no walks and could have
tossed a perfect game if it were not for the fielding error. The tension
started to build around the 6th inning. By the 9th inning the crowd was
electrified. Martinez chalked up 16 strikeouts. Kansas City finished with
14 hits in the victory.

Denny Neagle(6-5) ended up with the loss. He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 10 hits and 7 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.

Martinez was in a jubilant mood after the game. 'If I'd known I was going to
throw a no hitter I would have gotten a haircut!' he said, much to the
delight of the clubhouse gathering.

Hideo Nomo's 2000 perfect game.

This was an awesome game to watch happen.

The only run was classically manufactured, scoring on a sac fly in the sixth.

Only a second-inning walk to Brook Fordyce prevented this from being a perfect game for Nomo.

History was made in Virginia as Hideo Nomo(2-7) tossed a no-hitter and the

Traverse City Cherry Bombers defeated the Virginia Squires by the score

of 1 to 0.

Nomo was spectacular. He allowed Virginia just one walk. What an evening for

the fans. They were on the edge of their seats from the 7th inning on. With

every out, the electricity in the air mounted. Traverse City had just 6 hits
for the night.

Omar Olivares(7-6) was the loser. 'Nomo was simply incredible' losing
pitcher Olivares said. 'I hate to admit this but I'd pay to watch a man pitch
like that'

Greg Maddux's 1999 perfect game.
