Season 1998-99
A new male team participated in the league with the initiative of Mr. Mark Farrugia and Mr. Chris Galea. The team was called University Eagles. This team was made up of very young players; some of whom played before with other clubs; and managed by Mr. Mark Farrugia, but being their first appearance, they had a poor season. In the last few games the team got the services of their first foreigner, Charles Yves from France. With his help, the team performed much better. The team finished with 6 points, and La Salle Men Only as champions.
In the knock-out competition, University Eagles were going to surprise the newly crowned champions La Salle Men Only with a fine performance and the game ended 25-24 with a controversial final minute.
During this season, Chris Galea had been awarded the Best Player of the Year.

University Bombers took part in the first league organized by the MHA. This was the second consecutive year to participate in such competitions. During this year, University Bombers showed improvement in their game and managed to get the third place. This year was a memorable one for the University teams as they managed to get the first ever honour at University by winning the Ladies Knock-out Competition. They first won against Wild Angels in the semi-final and then they won against M'Scala Kavallieri Wurth 7 - 5 in the final. During the knock-out competition, University Bombers changed its name to University Vitality.

Season 1999-00
During this year, University male team was aiming to challenge for the honors. Managed by the same coach, the team got the services of another French player, Stefan Winterstan , apart of Charles Yves. Apart from having the previous years best players, Chris Galea confirmed, the team had managed to get the services of the 4 times top-scorer Roberto Ragonesi. The team had also a number of national players who were training for European 1st Men's Challenge Trophy.

The team impressed and confirmed their huge potential in winning the league. Throughout the season, Methode Electronics, University and La Salle Men Only were sharing the upper three position, but at the last stage of the league Methode Electronic sealed the title. University finished runners up with 6 points below the champions. This was the second time that University male team finished second in the National Handball league.

In the BOV Cashlink Knock-out Competition, University showed their potential, and without the services of the two foreigner, the team managed to win the second award. Being not favourites, the team had less pressure and managed to win against Aloysians. University continued to surprise by beating the champions Methode Electronic 20-17. Their final opponent was the favorites of the knock-out, La Salle Men Only. In front of an outstanding number of spectators, University played a superb game and managed to win the game 32-29 in the final few minutes.

PRO: John Paul Scicluna
Fund-raising official: Joe Tanti

During this meeting, the decision to merge both male and female team was taken. This season, both teams were sponsored - the male team by Computer Domain Limited and ladies team by Vitality.

During this season, University CDL had lost important players such as Roberto Ragonesi, and had a lot of completely new players who required time to settle. But this year, since Mr. Mark Farrugia returned to play apart a long injury, the team required a new coach. In the beginning of the season, the club obtained the services of coach Ronald Zammit who was ex-player of University and ex-coach of Malta U-17 national team, and Igor Stefanovic, ex-foreign player of Methode. The team's main goal was to obtain a respectable position, and after a unpleasant first round, University challenged with all teams and managed to arrive in the third place after champion St. Aloysians and La Salle Men Only. But during the last stages of the league, the team brought also the Frenchman Brice Sicard.
Having now a competitive and experienced team, University CDL managed to win the Knockout after eliminating Birzebbugia and Champions St. Aloysians. For the second consecutive year, University CDL met La Salle Men Only and won in the final minutes.

The ladies team, now managed by Coach Joe Tanti and Assistant coach Stephan Vancell, had much more expectations from the men's team. But finally, University Vitality came third from the four participants. In the konckout competition were eliminated in the semi final against Wild Angels.
