News: Meowth's Party Cancelled but all hopes for Pokemon
Advance and more |
At
the end of Mr. Miyamoto's Gamecube presentation, Nintendo
tagged on yet another real-time demonstration of
Gamecube's graphics: Meowth's Party. Unlike most of the
Gamecube demos at the show, Meowth's Party was
interactive, similar to Microsoft's
"Butterflies" Xbox demo.
Running in hi-res at
60fps (like the other Gamecube demos) Meowth's Party
featured the talkative title hero dancing and singing the
Japanese Pokemon opening song on stage while more and more
Pokemon kept pouring in. Next to old favorites from the
original Pokemon games, Gold/Silver creatures like Marill
and Elekid were also among the party audience, jumping,
screaming and dancing in full polygonal goodness.
According to Nintendo, the development team behind this
demo has simply taken the end sequences from the Pokemon
anime show and turned it into an interactive 3D show.
While the demo wasn't
graphically as impressive as some of the other Nintendo
demos (mostly due to the simple design of its cartoony
subjects and some minor framerate drops), it should be
noted that the polygon models looked perfectly round and
all animated independently and smoothly for the most part.
Additionally, Gamecube effortlessly cranked out advanced
lighting effects that doused the characters in
ever-changing disco lights. To prove that the demo was
running off the hardware, a Nintendo programmer controlled
the camera with a wireless Wavebird controller.
Nintendo wouldn't comment
on whether the demo was in fact indicative of work being
done on a Pokemon game for Gamecube, or was simply used to
show off its characters. However the demo was prepared by
the Pokemon Stadium N64 team -- which raises the question,
what exactly are these guys working on now that Pokemon
Stadium Gold and Silver is virtually complete? To see the
video clip, click here.
To make it work, right click on the link, select
"Save Target As...", then download it and watch
it.
It has been confirmed now
that this will stay just a demo. Nintendo has decided to
not turn it into a game since the idea didn't do well. So
enjoy this for what it is because it will remain a demo
and only that. All
we hope for now is that Pokemon Advance doesn't get
cancelled and thats what all Pokemon Fans will be waiting
for.

Gaming Corner |
This
week in my gaming corner, you'll get to get inside info
previews on Zone of the Enders : The 2nd Runner for PS2
and Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 (PS2, GC, XBox).
Tony
Hawk Pro Skater 4 :: PS2, Xbox, GC For
the 4th and ultimate of Tony Hawk's Skating game, this
will get more fans drawn to it. All 15 pro skaters from
the last THPS, THPS3 will be all packed into THPS4 and
including the fans all time favorite, Bob Burnquist. He
wasn't originally in THPS 3 because he had to take part in
ESPN's X Games Skateboarding. Anyhow the feature that will
allow you to create a skater will be back to make you
happy and customize your very own skater. There will be
some secrets skaters too to unlock so more riders could be
add to your skating list. Career
mode in THPS4 will be more advanced because it will be
like exploring. To start you will have to skate up to some
other skater in the horizon with an arrow above them. You
will talk to them and they will suddenly challenge you to
do: A
Points Milestone, Icon Collection, or saving or helping
the community. Sure
THPS4 will have a multiplayer mode because you can't skate
alone. Its good to skate with your buddies if you or them
don't have a skateboard because if you skate alone, it
won't be fun. -
Written by Flameking Zone
of the Enders: The 2nd Runner :: PS2 Remember
Z.O.E. original for PS2 which was one of the first game to
be on PS2 ? It was forgotten, but now its back with a
whole new attitude that you won't forget. You'll be almost
invincible with the new features if you become a master
(like me) at this mech game. You'll have the ability to
swing past and around your enemies to psych them out,
destroy a group of opponents at once, teleport to anywhere
you choose and tear places to shreds to use as backup
shields or weapons. Its good to conserve energy when your
in battle. New environments will be also added in Z.O.E. :
The 2nd Runner like Canyons and much more cool cityscapes
and lots more. It will be surely that this Z.O.E. won't be
forgotten. -
