IMPERIAL WIZARD CLASS (PRE HERESY) BATTLESHIP
The Imperial Wizard class BB are products of the same era as the vengeance grand cruiser and the Admiral class carrier, conceived and fabricated in the pre Horus heresy period of the empire when ship design was at it's pinnacle of achievement. It was among the first batch of warships to be built with the distinctive Imperial armoured prow and was designed at a time when ship building skills were capable of a great many technological skills that elude today's ship builders . it's heavy armour and vast long range hitting power made it a feared opponent . Very few Wizards remain in service today and those that are, are highly prized by their captains and admirals alike. There are many that regret that modern shipyards are no longer capable of reproducing the grace and power of these ancient vessels. However they are not without their problems. Very few yards have the skills to maintain these vessels in good working order and they are very prone to break downs . When working at the extremes of their physical capabilities they have been known to fail.

THE MODEL
The concept for the model lies within my attempts to make a line of models that link the early/chaos ships to the newer imperial designs. I felt quite happy with the line of cruisers produced to date but with Fanatics introduction of the avenger as a link model I recognised that using components from this model I could finally design a battleship that would fit into the range.
The model is made from a standard chaos cruiser with the prow removed and sliced down the centreline. An extra weapons bay is added to each side . The model is widened by making a box like structure between the two cruiser halves and then building up the decking and bridge structures to suit. It is completed by an avenger prow with much of the detail filed off and with added torpedo tubes. The following photos show where standard components finish and scratch building starts.
