ITEMS
This section lists all of the items in the game. Most are found in grass patches, or by pulling them out of the ground. Most of them are used to defeat enemies, but some have other uses.

No image available Vegetables
They come in a variety of vegetables. Carrots, turnips, radishes, pumpkins, you name it! They are used to pelt enemies and defeat them. These ones take a little bit longer to pull up.
Giant Vegetable Screenshot Giant Vegetables
The newly-added giant vegetables are huge! They take a lot longer to pull up than normal vegetables. Since they are so large, it's easier to hit the target(s) with it. However, the game only features giant radishes.
No image available Small Vegetables
The smaller vegetables take almost virtually no time to pull up. They come in a smaller variety; onions and smaller carrots. That's all I've found. Anyway, they can also be used to attack your enemies.
No image available Heart Radish
Sometimes, you'll pull up a heart-shaped radish. It will automatically turn into a recovery Heart and be given to it. These are rather common, so look for them when you're damaged.
No image available Mushroom Blocks
The Mushroom-shaped blocks can be used for many things. They won't disappear when thrown, so you can defeat enemies with them. You can also stack them on top of each other and use them as stepping stones. They are heavy, though, so it takes longer to pull one up. There can sometimes be items hidden under a pile of Mushroom Blocks.
Bomb Screenshot Bombs
These are annoying to use, I think. When they begin to flash, they'll explode shortly after. Immediately throw them down for the explosion can hurt you to. You can use the bombs to destroy crumbled-up blocks and walls. They can also defeat enemies, but the timing has to be just right.
POW Block Screenshot POW Blocks
POW Blocks come in two sizes. The smaller ones don't take that long to pull up. They defeat every enemy on the ground on the screen when thrown down. The new, bigger POW Blocks will bounce around until it dissolves, defeating every enemy on the ground on the screen. These take a lot longer to pull up.
No image available Coins
These coins are only found in Subspace (see Potion). Pull up any grass patch and you'll get a coin. You can have a maximum of 10 coins. The coins allow you to play the Slot Machine game at the end of the stage.
No image available Shells
Shells now only come in larger sizes. Throw them and they will slide along the ground, taking out whatever enemy it touches. No matter what, you'll get a Heart if it hits an enemy. You can even stand on the shell and ride it. The shell now bounces off walls unlimited times. You can pick them up again after they've been thrown.
No image available Ace Coins
A new item! There are five Ace Coins hidden in each stage. They are big, red coins with the letter A on them. Collect all five and you'll get an extra life. Also, collect all 100 Ace Coins in the game for a perfect 100% clear rating.
No image available Mushrooms
Mushrooms are only found in Subspace (see Potion). Pick it up and you'll automatically gain another heart container for that stage only. You'll also get a complete life recovery. You can have a maximum of five heart containers per stage.
1-UP Mushroom Screenshot 1-UP Mushrooms
These items give you an extra life. Sometimes, you can find them buried in the dirt. Sometimes, they are trapped inside bubbles. Throw three of any kind of object at the bubble and it will break, allowing you to go over and get the 1-UP Mushroom. Pick it up.
No image available Hearts
A new item: Hearts. These are much larger than the original Hearts in the older SMB2 versions. Instead of floating up at random occurances, they are spread out throughout the stages. Touch it to recover one heart container. If you defeat two enemies with one object, a Heart will float up. You also get a Heart from picking a Heart Radish.
Key Screenshot Keys
Keys are rather big. Pick them up and carry them. As soon as you pick one up, the enemy Phanto will begin to chase after you! Drop the key and Phanto will disappear, but he'll immediately begin chasing again as soon as you pick it up again. Carry the key to a locked door and enter while holding the key to unlock it. Keys can be used to defeat enemies, like Mushroom Blocks.
No image available Magic Potions
If you uproot a Potion, throwing it down will create a doorway to Subspace. Subspace is a reversed, darker version of the stage. You can't go far in Subspace, and you'll go back after a few seconds. Such items as Mushrooms and Coins are hidden in Subspace.
Starman Screenshot Lucky Cherries & Starmen
If you collect five Lucky Cherries that float throughout the stages, a Starman will begin to float up from the bottom of the stage. Grab it and you'll begin flashing and become temporarily invincible. You can simply touch enemies to defeat them. Some enemies, such as Phanto, can be defeated with the Starman.
No image available Stop Watch
Uproot four large (not giant) vegetables. When you uproot the fifth one, you'll automatically activate the Stop Watch. All enemies will freeze temporarily. However, they can still hurt you if you touch them, so be careful!
