This Game is the Ambassador of Kickyourassitor
Before this game, no one cared about skating games, 720 being the only exception but the game was old. Ya see, before this game came out skating games were boring craptacular fests of boring mindless rack up points with no real reason at all type of game. This game changed everything. You play the game as several real world pro skaters as you travel the globe completing objectives. The objectives are mostly the same every level. 2 high scores you must reach, a secret tape you must grab, objects you must smash or trick on, and collecting the letters in SKATE. This may seem boring at first, but it is not. Everyone should play this game to witness firsthand the greatness of the Hawk himself. The DC version of this game retains the greatness of the PSX and N64 versions but with the added power of Dreamcast, the skaters are made with 3 times more polygons and everything else looks better as well. While this is the best looking version of the original Pro Skater, the graphics are not really that much improved. The point system and tricks are done very well too. If you do the same trick over and over again you would see that the points you get for the trick decrease everytime you do the trick. Something nice to get rid of those cheaters out there who just want to do the same high score trick over and over again. The same thing goes for grinding. Something else to note is that while grinding you must keep you balance because if you fall, all your hard earned points in the grind will be lost... Also, the levels of the game are very well designed and most importantly, fun. The classic warehouse level has a cool half pipe, some good grinds and is perfect for your first experience. Other levels, like San Fransisco, are harder to master. The last thing is the cool feature of "gaps". Gaps are secret bonus points that let you get higher scores. For instance, in the first level there is a halfpipe. Jump over the halfpipe to get the gap of "Over the Pipe". There is also a large rail in the center of the park. Grind the whole thing and you will get another gap called the Big Rail. Some gaps are easy to find, such as Over the Pipe. Some are a little harder to find such as the Neversoft Elec. Co., and others are very very hard to pull off like the Holy Shi... gap. Yes, I have pulled that off. |

Graphics: This is the best looking console version of Pro Skater there is, but this is not the best looking Dreamcast game out there. It still looks pretty, but compared to other DC games, it looks like just another PSX port, which it is...7/10 Sound: The almighty soundtrack to this game will have you playing long after it is complete. But everyone has different tastes in music. What I like, you may not like, but I am the Great Rayjay. You will like what I tell you to like. 9/10 Control: Pulling off tricks is easy the first time around. Landing them is not. You have to practice landing your tricks properly if you want to finish this game. But that is half the fun...9/10 How Fun Is It?: This game is very fun. I remember when I first played it. I hated skating games so I thought I would hate this game. Boy was I ever wrong. Even if you have no intrest in skating at all you should check this out. Not only was it the best skating game of all time (now that award goes to Pro Skater 2) but also one of the best video games of all time. 10/10 The Fruit:This game is not fruity at all. Go somewhere else for fruit. You would thing they would show some fruity things on those Jumbotrons or something... Final Score:10/10 |

A true classic. Even if you don't have the slightest intrest in skating at all, you should still check this out. |
