Well done, Sonic Team
Sonic is back for his 10th aniversary in one hell of a game, but this time he has a little competition going on in the form of Shadow. A black hegdehog that resembles Sonic, never without his Chaos Emerald. The Emerald alows him to warp time and space allowing him to warp in an abiltily he calls "Chaos Control". Since Shadow looks like Sonic, the police think that Shadows evil doings are the work of Sonic. A secret military force codenamed G.U.N. captures Sonic and arests him. Will that stop him? Uh, I don't think so. There are 3 main types of gameplay here which are the action, shooting and hunting levels. The action levels are the best, with Sonic or Shadow runing around defying gravity and runing around in insane ways such as in a classic loop, to running downward off the side of a building. The new and inproved Light Dash system also makes things a bit crazier. The Light Dash allows Sonic or Shadow to travel at light speed along a row of rings. The Homing attack is back as well, as long as a new bounce attack, somersault, and most important of all, the grind. Sonic and Shadow can find a rail and grind down it. It seems cool, but grinding is a big part in the later levels of the game. The level Final Rush consists of mostly grinding. Enough about their levels, now lets move on to Tails and Eggman. The shooting levels. If you have ever played the original Sonic Adventure then you might have played as E-102. This is what these levels really are, minus the time limit and with a few new features. In these levels you shoot everything you see and hope to get a good score. You can lock on to multiple enemies at a time to get a higher score which is required if you want to finish these levels. They have a health guage instead of rings so if you are hit without rings, you will not die. Grabbing rings does give you a little health though. Yeah. A real little... The last type of game is the hunting game, or the one everybody hates. In these games you hunt around for 3 items. A radar flashes to tell you if you are close to an item. If it flashes green, then you are close. Yellow means you are closer still. If it flashes red then you are very close to it. Monitors give you hints on where they are but sometimes they are worthless. Everytime you complete a level, you recieve a grade. A, B, C, D or E. This adds to the replay value to the game although some say the reward is not worth so many hours of play. I liked it though. Another thing to mention is the mulitplayer. It is fun so far from what I have played but the framerate seems to take a hit and slowdown can occur, especialy in the mulitplayer Kart Race game. Hope you can drive with all that chopiness... The last thing is the Chao. Yes, the return of the cute creatures that will once again steal your life away. The Chao system has been expanded with new things you can do to your Chao, and new things it can learn. You even have the option of raising a good or evil chao, as well as a normal one. |
Playing SA2 can be habbit forming. Don't turn off your DC
Graphics: The graphics for this game are amazing. Everything is wonderful to look at. Lets leave it at that.10/10 Sound: The sound is either very good or very bad. The soundtrack for this game is amazing. The Main theme is great but some songs do seem a little corny to me. For instance in Knuckles' levels, there is always a guy raping about the level. Sometimes it does not seem right at all. I don't want to spend my time listening to someone rap about the Master Emerald. But the other songs are great. Levels such as City Escape and Final Chase have great music. But the character's voices are some of the worst ever heard. Very very bad. I don't even want to hear them speak ever again. Now lets all sing the music from the game. I am the EGGMAN! Okay I will stop now.8/10 Control: The control is good, but not perfect. Sometimes the control gets screwed up in the later levels where you have to switch the gravity to walk on walls or the celing. But with practice it can be mastered. Some other awkward moments occur but nothing really that bad...8/10 How Fun is It?: You want me to tell you how fun this game is? Although you should know how much I love this game and I could go on forever about how fun this game is, but words can not do anything to someone who has never played the game. Just play it already!10/10 The Fruit: Here is where the game falls short. No fruit. If Chaos Emeralds were considered fruit then this game would have lots of it. But emeralds are not fruit. And this game is not fruity. There are times when you feed your Chao fruit, but it is not enough.2/10 Final Score: 9/10 |

Although SA2 is one hell of a game, I nearly forgot to mention the bad camera. Yes, this game has a bad camera. Hope that does not take away too much of the fun... |
