Whats Going On

Whats Going On?

Whats going on? I don't know. I just had to do something with this site because I did not want it to become staler than a Mizar windmill joke. So whats going on in the world of Rayjay? Err... nothing much. I forgot what I was going to say anyway. I have been playing a lot of Tony Hawk 3 lately. More than Smash Bros Melee and Resident Evil, the only 3 GameCube games I have at the time. I seem to have a strange additction to the game and would not be suprised if I went on to just keep on playing it until Tony Hawk 4 came out. Come to think of it, it was just like this when Tony Hawk 2 came out. I played that game forever and thought that they would never be able to improve it. Then Tony Hawk 3 comes out and its hard to play Tony 2 without yawning or falling asleep. Its not like that though, as I rediscovered how much fun the GBA version of Tony 2 was after I scored my first million point runs in a couple of levels. If there is anything that can get you back to playing a Tony Hawk game, its getting a high score that you thought you would never have been able to do. And the best part is when you reach that score, a couple weeks later when you smash the same score that you thought was impossible and get addicted all over again. Thats about the time when the next version of Tony Hawk comes out and you play the crap out of it. Then when you go back to the previous version you find that all your former skills in the old game are no more and you can't get any decent combos anymore. Well, its the only real curse that the game has. That and people who think that it is the same thing over and over again questioning how soaring on half pipes and grinding can possibly still be any fun the thousanth time around. For those are the people who wonder how the games get such high review scores time and time again, and will never find out just what the big deal is all about.

Speaking of games, what will the game of the summer be? First of all, the game of the summer is a game that you played in the summer that seemed to be the most fun out of all the other games that you played. Last year it was Sonic Adventure 2. That was some game playing it for the first time and it took me all summer to get all 180 emblems and unlock the amazing Green Hill level. Even though the shortest level in the game, I thought the reward was well worth it. Now wheres my 3D Chemical Plant level? Act 2 of that level would rule in 3D.
The Game of the Summer the year before that would have to have been Marvel vs Capcom 2. Who would have thought that the arcade would become fun again? Even though spending most of my summer in Michigan and playing another great game called UmJammer Lammy, it was Marvel vs Capcom 2 that took that award for my very own personal Game of the Summer Award.
One common thing about the Game of the Summer is that I never know what the hell it would be. Marvel vs Capcom 2? A fighting game? It would catch my interest seeing as I enjoyed the other Capcom Versus games but I never thought for this long. And Sonic Adventure 2? I found this game to be interesting but never even played it until a few weeks after it came out and that was just a rental. I never knew that it would be the best game I would play all summer. So whats coming out this summer? To tell you the truth I don't even know. The past 2 games have been DC games. I don't think this year will be another year for DC as I don't have anything to play for it anymore unless somehow PSO comes back in a big way and I doubt it. I guess I'll just have to answer that question when the summer is over. But its all good, because just like the last 2 years, I had absolutly no idea what Game of the Summer would be. And as for the years before that, I don't remember. Oh well. Although I do remember a tough decision a very long time ago over Super Mario World and Sonic the Hedgehog 2...

I guess just one last thing. My order for the Jet Set Radio soundtrack came in today. To tell you the truth it came in yesterday but nobody was here to get the package so the UPS dude had to try again the next day. Arg... Oh well. So what can I say about it? Its cool. Very cool to tell you the truth. Its just that the music is really good. And if you were to tell someone that what they were listening to was a soundtrack to a videogame they would have a hard time believing you. It just sounds different from what people would call "normal videogame music". I heard a few songs from Jet Set Radio Future as well, but they don't seem to be as good as this original DC version. The remixes of the original songs are bad and the only songs I really like are Birthday Cake, Funky Dealer and this one song by Scrapegoat Wax or something. Birthday Cake is a trully weird song but grows on you. Funky Dealer has lyrics which somehow tie in to Blackjack or whatever and random words thrown in for the hell of it. Just like the old great Jet Set Radio songs of the past. And the last song I never really thought I would like because I am not really a fan of whatever kind of music that is. Its not quite hip hop and its not quite whatever else fits that description. But then again I don't know music and I could be wrong on everything I just said about that song. I would even go as far as to say that I am entirely wrong about that song. But I just like it okay? Thats about all I have to say right now.
