I was at this Zelda site snooping around, stealing ideas for my own site when I took a look at their secrets page for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I know how many secrets and glitches are in each indivudual Zelda game so this interested me a bit. The thing is, they start out with simple things such as the angry Cucco's and how to get a bigger bomb bag. The problem is, they soon start to get so obscure that by the end of the page, everyone looks as if they are just making stuff up. Here are the biggest offenders, none of which are true, but it's sure funny to see how far out some of these "secrets" actually are.
Bash Bongo Bongo without the Lens of Truth
Freeze both hands with arrows as you would normally do. Wait a few seconds until Bongo Bongo's hands turn into fists and charge at you.
Shoot an arrow right through the middle of his fists. He should then appear stunned. Attack with your sword. Repeat this process until he's
dead. (NOTE: It you don't shoot an arrow through the middle of his hands, he will ram into and knock you off the platform into the acid)
I don't know how this would be considered a code. It is more like a strategy. Also, why anyone would even want to attempt Bongo without the lens is crazier than I am.
Bomberman in Zelda 64?!
First, turn into an adult and go to the shooting gallery in Kakariko Village. Don't pay the guy. Instead, go up to him and look CLOSELY. You might have
to move around and you'll see a tattoo! Since it's blurred, it looks like Bomberman! If you use an ice arrow and hold it while looking at the tattoo, now
it looks like Regulus! The fire arrow makes it look like Arthemis and the light arrow just makes it look messed up.
First of all, I don't think Nintendo would stick Bomberman in a Zelda game. It's cool with Mario, but not with Bomberman. Take a look at this guy's description. Since more than half of the textures in this game are blurred, anything could look like anything. I could take a close look at Ingo's mustache and see Wayne Newton. And who are Regulus and Arthemis anyway? And what do they have to do with anything?
Cool Hookshot Angle
You need to clear the Gerudo's Fortress and get the Longshot for this to work. Get on the large rock with the flag sticking out of it. Point your longshot
at the top of the jail cell where Link would be thrown in before he completed the Fortress. It's the spot where you could normally longshot up to to
escape. You'll need to get on the edge of the rock to see the red dot. Let the button go, and watch as the camera zooms on the point where the
longshot landed, with Link coming right at you!
This site takes anything. While there are a few good secrets, any Zelda gamer would already know them by now. And posting a secret based on how you got a cool camera angle is just sad.
Dark Side of Link
Go to the old professor's house in Lake Hylia. Then, walk in and turn around. Link's eyes will glow an evil blue!
Once again, this may be because of the textures. Or a simple glowing effect in the lab. Or then again, what if there is an evil Link hidden somewhere in the game that once triggered, replaces Gannondorf as the final boss and gives you the real ending? Nah, I'll go with the glowing effect.
One-Hit Ganondorf
As Young Link, use the Kokiri Slingshot to hit Ganondorf after talking to Zelda. When you become Adult Link, you can beat Ganondorf in one hit!
You can't see Ganondorf after talking to Zelda. So this code is impossible.
Silver Tunic
You get the silver armor as a kid. First you need to have finished the game and then, as a child, teleport to all the locations of the different stages, but
when you teleport, don't move a foot step until you reach the last teleportation. Have the last teleportation be the one at Lake Hylia. Equip your iron
boots and walk forward into the water until you hit the bottom, then equip you hover boots and float to the top. Once you are at the top, equip your
regular boots and swim straight towards land... stay straight, be careful not to move around. When you get to the land, equip your red tunic and
teleport to Death Mountain (dont move once you've teleported) then equip the green tunic and teleport to the forest, finally equpip the blue tunic
and teleport back to Lake Hylia. Once you have teleported, you should be wearing the Silver Tunic. This tunic upgrades your health and speed
which is great to have. Once you get the Silver Tunic, you should save the game and then it will let you select silver, red, green, or blue tunics.
The silver tunic is at the bottom of Link's feet so you can select it.
This is an example of those long-winded BS secrets that only the most gulible will fall for. And after trying it and getting no results, they will assume they did something wrong and try again. About the Silver Tunic anyway, why would you need your health upgraded? The game is easy enough already. As for speed? I'm thinking something along the lines of the Bunny Hood in Majora's Mask. Nice to have in the open, but try wearing it while solving the game's more difficult puzzles. Ah, who cares anymore anyway.
Skydiving Link
Want to have some fun? Well, go to the Gerudo Bridge when you are a child and jump off. You will be skydiving!
No, you will be falling.
Star Wars?!
As Young Link, go to the Bombchu Bowling Alley. Look at the music box and you will see R2-D2!
This is even worse than the Bomberman one. When I see the music box, I see a music box. Not R2! Agh! Will these people ever learn?
Triforce Tunic
To get the Triforce Tunic, first beat Ganon 9 times. Then, go to LonLon Ranch and talk to Malon 8 times, then slice her 3 times. Next, she will ask
you if u want a nova sound thing (it's strange..)! You use it on Epona with your bow and arrow! So you can use 5 things on your horse... then go to
the Temple of Time and shoot the triforce above the 3 stones. Then use the debug code and it will have a voice! It really talks like a human! And then
use it for 6 minutes then shut it off. Then start it again and debug code will be on. When it asks you if you want a copy of the triforce, say yes. Then,
find a Like Like. He will suck you up, along with a tunic of his choice! Kill him and see your fake triforce and the tunic will be combined! AND THE
TUNIC WILL BE PURPLE! Use it anywhere and it's just like all the tunics combined... you won't drown, burn, or get hurt while wearing the tunic!
This is angering me now. Who believes this stuff? Okay, lets go though it step by step. Step one, beat Ganon 9 times. 9? 9!? Why? Talk to Malon 8 times? What does this have to do with anything? What is a nova sound thing? What is the debug code? And why does this code have a voice? A human voice? And why would you want a copy of the triforce? And most importantly, why would you want to run around in anything purple anyway!?
Luckily for me, the list of bad secrets ended there. Now I promise myself to never go to another Zelda related site ever again.
