Tidus: Swordplay

In order to execute Tidus's Overdrive, you have to press the X button when a small flash runs over a bar in a longer bar. I don't know how many times I've messed up because I was against a boss and was a little too hyped up. The best thing for you to do is to keep as calm as you could, as if the battle was just normal as any.

Spiral Cut

In this attack, Tidus goes straight on with one enemy, doing a spiraled uppercut with his sword, to do moderate damage. This Overdrive is will be great for you, even after you gain Energy Rain. Use it when you've got several weak enemies, but one fairly strong one. You don't have to worry about getting this Overdrive, since it's Tidus's default Ovedrive.

Slice and Dice

This time Tidus runs through the enemy line and charges random enemies, usually about 6 times altogether. This attack is best used against a group that's pretty even in HP, or even against a single enemy if needed. In order to gain this attack, you need to use Spiral Cut 10 times.

Energy Rain

With this Overdrive, Tidus catapults himself off one of the enemies, then gains energy in his sword, and sends it flying down towards the other enemies, causing heavy damage. Use this Overdrive against a large group of enemies, or any enemies if needed. It's particularly useful against enemies with even HP, rather it be large or small. After using his Overdrive 30 times, Energy Rain will become available.

Blitz Ace

During Tidus's final Overdrive, he attacks with whatever weapon he has equipped several times before slamming his sword into the ground and kicking off of it into the air. At this time, one of your teammates (usually Yuna) throws him a blitzball, and he performs a Sphere Shot against the fiends. To get this Overdrive, perform 80 successful Overdrives.

Yuna: Grand Summon

Yuna's Overdrive is Grand Summon. Any aeon summoned with her Overdrive will appear with a full Overdrive gauge of its own. After the aeon uses its Overdrive attack, its gauge will return to its previous position, making sure the previous gauge isn't wasted. Use this summon against those megabosses, particularly the Seymour fights, since he Banishes your aeons after one attack.

Auron: Bushido

Auron's Overdrives can be brought to power by pressing button sequences. My advice is to stay cool when you use them; you know, try to be calm and take the time if you need it.

Dragon Fang

Auron jumps up and drives his blade into the ground, which causes a flame to overwhelm all enemies. This attack causes moderate damage and a slight delay of the enemies' turn. The button combination for this command is: D-Down, D-Left, D-Up, D-Right, L1, R1, O, X. Use this attack anytime during most of the game against larger groups of enemies to get the most out of it. Don't worry about trying to gain this Overdrive; you already have it at the beginning of the game.

Shooting Star

During this Overdrive, Auron runs up to his opponent and slams into it with his sword, making the enemy fly off into oblivion if he's weak enough. The sequence for this attack is as follows: Triangle, Circle, Square, D-Left, D-Right, X. This Overdrive is probably best used against the larger, harder, enemies, even though it won't throw them out of the fight. The sequence for this attack is as follows: Triangle, Circle, Square, D-Left, D-Right, X. To get this Overdrive, you'll need 1 Sphere.

Banishing Blade

Auron takes a drink from his flask in this attack. If the buttons are pressed correctly, he spits the liquid into the air around his sword, engulfing it in flames. Then with a slam of his sword, 3 or 4 boulders come flying towards one enemy, along with all of Auron's Break ailments (Power, Armor, Magic, and Mental). D-Up, L1, D-Down, R1, D-Right, D-Left, Triangle are the buttons used to execute this Overdrive. Use this attack against one enemy that has different forms of armor, such as protect, or against a very powerful enemy that you can knock the strength out of. After gaining 3 Spheres, this Overdrive becomes available.

Tornado

In the last of Auron's Overdrives, he lets his sword fly around, creating a large tornado that sucks all of the enemies into it. If the button combo is done correctly, he throws his flask into the tornado, erupting it into flames. In the end, the monsters are slammed down onto the ground. Use these buttons during this Overdrive: X, D-Right, R1, D-Left, L1, Triangle. This Overdrive doesn't really have a bad time to use. Once you get it, you'll never need to use his others. But that's why you need all 10 Spheres to get this one...

Kimahri: Ronso Rage

Aside from Jump, all of Kimarhi's Overdrive attacks must be learned from enemies through the Special ability Lancet. When he learns a new Overdrive technique, his gauge automatically fills. (To see who you can learn his abilities from check out the Kimahri's Abilities section.)

Wakka: Slots

In Wakka's Overdrives, it all depends on how you match up the reels. Try to get the first reel the choice that you want, and then be very careful when hitting the others. If you get them all aligned evenly, the attack does a lot more than if only two, or none at all, matched. To get all of Wakka's Overdrives (save for elemental reels), you must win tournament and league matches, though I'm not sure how many. (if you know, please e-mail me)

Elemental Reels

Whenever you use this Overdrive, there are a few things you should know.

The different signs on the reels are as follows: Thunder, Water, Fire, Blizzard. This is Wakka's basic Overdrive, so you don't have to do anything to get it.

Attack Reels

With this Overdrive, Wakka causes non-elemental damage instead. There are three different options on the slots: 2 hit, 1 hit, and miss. Below is the chart:

  • If you match up all 3 reels, the number of attacks done is doubled and divided up into the amount of enemies, though I don't know if 3 misses does anything.
  • Get two number symbols and miss (or two misses and one number) and you will attack one enemy the amount of times the numbers add up to.
  • If you get all number symbols, but they don't all match, then you do the amount of attacks the numbers add up to, divided up into the amount of fiends.

Status Reels

This reel attack causes status ailments. You can hit either a skull, an arrow pointing down, and an hourglass. Here's the tables for this attack:

  • If two symbols match, you attack one opponent.
  • If three symbols match, you attack all opponents.
  • The skull causes poison, sleep, silence and darkness for 3 turns (if the enemy isn't immune).
  • The arrow causes all of the break abilities: Armor, Power, Mental, and Magic.
  • The hourglass causes petrification (if the enemy isn't immune).

Aurochs Reels

Wakka's final Overdrive allows you to use all of the possible symbols (fire, thunder, blizzard, water, skull, down-arrow, hourglass, one-hit, two-hit, and miss) as well as a special symbol, the star. I'm pretty sure no matter what the attacks target all enemies. Though I'm not sure as how everything works, I'll try below.

  • If you get 3 star symbols, Wakka unleashes an ultimate non-elemental attack.
  • For every other symbol, it does what it would do on their original reels (for example, if you get a skull, 2-hit, and lightning, the attack would cause poison, sleep, silence, darkness, and two lightning-based attacks).

Lulu: Fury

When Lulu hits her Overdrive, she can cast any black magic spell she knows multiple times without spending MP. To use her Overdrive, you have to spin the right analog stick clockwise as fast as possible in the alotted time. For me the best way to do this is by putting the stick in the center of your palm and moving your hand in a circle.

Rikku: Mix

Rikku's Overdrive allows you to mix two items of your choice. I can't really give you any help at this particular moment, sorry.
