Jackson Gamers at The Bunker 1984

Back in the time of legend, soon after the fabled "Meeting in Wally Simon's Basement" the HMGS (Historical Miniature Gaming Society) tried it's fledgeling wings by holding a series of Mini-Cons. A favorite site for these was just outside the Washington DC beltway in New Carrollton Maryland. This was in a hotel - I think it was a Sheraton, but that is not for certain. The convention center at this hotel was built under the parking garage. It's reinforced concrete decor led to the nickname of "THE BUNKER".

The Jackson Gamers in attendance: (left to right) Christie Brom, Lori Brom, Larry Brom, Robert Whitfield, Jay Stribling, Russ Schnieder.

Larry with his lovely daughters, running a TSATF game on a kitty-litter table. This technique is seldom used not, but was a standard terrain method with the Jackson Gamers in the 1980s. It allows for 3-D terrain sculpting, but you must keep the kitties away from it, or they will leave semi-buried little additions to the terrain!

Note Dick Bryant (Publisher of The Courier magazine) taking great care with his troop deployments on the left.
