Born to a house and family of military tradution. Meryl trained herself to become a soldier from her earliest formative years. Unlike many children of military persional, she had no desire to break away from the regulation and persue a less rigorus existence, having been raised as a soldier for as long as she can remember. despite her delicate structure, she handles a desert eagle pistol with only one hand, and her lifes divotion landed her a job as a combate agent for Fox-Hound. Prior to her first assignment for the orginization, she was genetically engineered to be a superior soldier, but her only battle experience has been simulations (just like the defector Genome guards that are gaurding the Shadow Moses base).

Roy Cambells' favorite niece, Meryl Silverburgh was a newly apointed oprative and was actually assigned to Shadow Moses Island on the very day of the terrorist insurrection. Tension built as she was caught in the middle of the uprisingand is thought to be inprisioned some where in the base, possibly as a hostage. She has a Codec, but her lack of distress responses concerns all present at the operation headquarters, especially Commander Campbell.

The Strict military upbringing disables all thoughts of falling in love (indeed, Myril recieved minor genetic treatment to prevent her from showing deep afection), but a final radio transmision from her indicated that her natural Alaskin surroundings were begining to have an efect on her values and views of life.
