The base was located right next to the Mediterranean Sea. If the Marines were to land from the beach they would have been easily spotted so the easiest way to approach would be to offload from the helicopters under cover of darkness and get to the base as stealthily as possible.
As we got closer to the base, we noticed some of the terrorists walking alone, many were out of earshot of each other and we could pick them off one at a time. I instructed Lance Corporal Ryan to sneak into some bushes where he could ambush one of the terrorists. Ryan pulled out his bayonet and attached it to his M-16. As the terrorist walked closer to him he stabbed him in the heart and pulled his corpse into the bushes. Another terrorist was approaching a tree and Torres instructed his best marksman, Sergeant Grayer, to snipe him. Grayer hid in some tall grass and pulled out his scope. He aimed and pulled the trigger. The terrorist's head exploded and his body was pulled into some bushes.
A few guard towers were placed around the perimeter of the base. I instructed my men to climb some trees and hide in them. After my men reached the tops I gave the order to fire at will. Bullets flew to the terrorist base and the enemy's numbers decreased rapidly. They could not tell where the fire was coming from and panicked.
"Help! Help! Help!" screamed a terrorist. He was then shot by 3 of my men. Soon enough, most of the terrorists were dead. The remaining few were all hidden.
I took 10 of my best men inside the base to find the ambassadors and to kill the terrorists' leader. Of the men I took were Ryan and Grayer. We quickly moved into the base and met little resistance.
Suddenly we were under fire. Ten terrorists jumped out in front of us and fired. Five of my men were gunned down in the hail of bullets. My remaining men and I managed to take the 10 out. We saw a building with the door opened. I noticed the people inside taped up and a mirror on the wall allowed me to see 4 men with AK-47's standing there ready to kill anything that moved into the building. We had to figure a way to get in and kill the terrorists, without getting the ambassadors or ourselves killed. I noticed an open window behind the terrorists in the building and I took out my Ka-bar knife. I crawled behind them and cut one of their throats and ran. While the other 3 were looking for who killed their comrade, my men ran in and blew them away. We ran in and untied the ambassadors and we escaped the base.
Fifteen terrorists were running after us, but my other men opened fire and killed them. The remaining terrorists threw their guns down and surrendered to us. I radioed Colonel Schweres and notified him that all ambassadors were alive, terrorists were dead, but the leader was not found yet. Suddenly a helicopter took off and headed towards us. It fired its machine-guns at us, but we managed to dodge the bullets. We fired everything we had at the helicopter, but we didn't shoot it down yet. I told Ryan to fire his rocket launcher at it. He loaded and the helicopter exploded in a plume of smoke. After the mission, 6 of my 40 men died. Twelve others were wounded. I notified the Colonel that the leader was dead and the helicopters picked us up.
