Scout Hit and Run

A fully upgraded squadron of 12 scouts and an 2 Observers can be a devastating air fleet for two important  reasons:

  • Speed

After Speed Upgrade at the Fleet Beacon, they are one of the fastest air units; they can attack and retreat quickly, outrunning enemy ships.

  • Shield Battery

If the Scouts loose a large amount of Shield Points, head for a group of Shield Batteries to recharge and head back into battle like new.

Note: Get all the Upgrades you can, even if it means making a second or third Cybornetics Core.

Primary Targets: Science Vessels, Battle Cruisers (in few numbers), Overlords, Guardians, Defense Structures, non-anti-air units, Pylons.

The Scouts require the following Upgrades:

  • Air Weapons Level 1, 2, and 3 at the Cybornetics Core.
  • Air Armor Level 1, 2, and 3 at the Cybornetics Core.
  • Shield Upgrade Level 1, 2, and 3.
  • Speed Upgrade at the Fleet Beacon.
  • Increase Sight Range at the Fleet Beacon.
Arbiture Warp

This strategy describes some ways to sneak an Arbiture behind enemy lines and Recall mass amounts of troops while keeping them cloaked as well. Refer to Figure 2.

Figure 2: Recalling a  stack of units to the Arbiture's location (under its cloaking field)

Arbiture Warp Types:

  • Zealots + Reavers + Archons Combo
  • Mass Reavers (See Reaver Drops)
  • Air Fleet Warp
Reaver Drops

There are two main types of Reaver drops:

  • Two-Reaver Shuttle Drop

    1. Make 2-4 Shuttles and load them with 2 Reavers each.
    2. Sneak the shuttles, Corsairs, and Observers behind enemy lines.
    3. Drop the Reavers, preferably behind their mineral line.

Note: Keep the Corsairs nearby for anti-air; bring one shuttle full of zealots or Dragoons to block the enemy ground forces from the Reavers.

Note: Requires time and micro but only midway through the tech tree.  It is quite expensive as well; 600 minerals and 200 gas for each shuttle load of Reavers.

    Upgrades you should get:

    • Increase Shuttle Speed at the Fleet Beacon.
    • Air Armor Upgrades 1, 2, and 3 at the Cybornetics Core.

  • Arbiture Reaver Drop/Reaver Warp
