Roller Coaster Tycoon Tips

  • If you need some money fast do this cheat, place Information Kiosks all around your park and sell umbrellas at a price between 5 and 10 dollars. I usually sell them for about $7.00 at most of the Information Kiosks. When it rains people will pay any amount just to get an umbrella for shelter from the rain. By doing this you will make a good amount of cash!

  • Building a Monorail is also good for when it is raining. If you charge about $4.00 or $5.00, people will flock to the ride so they have shelter from the rain. People hate to get wet, so on rainy days the Monorail has great business. By doing this you will earn a good amount of cash and the guests will be happy that they were sheltered from the rain!

  • When you start off with a new park, it's good to have little, less intense rides towards the front of the park by the entrance. You'll want to build your best and biggest ride in the back of the park so people will go by the smaller rides and drain thier money on those. With this people will stay in the park longer and they will have spent most of their cash and they will be satisfied!

  • If you have an objective where you have to get a certain amount of people in by a certain year, here's a good tip. You'll want to do some advertising for the park, after that people will come to your park. You'll want to have stuff that people need. The things that would keep any human happy in real life would be if the park had rides for all people, food and drink areas, bathrooms, a clean park with no vandalism or messes, and entertainers to keep them happy if people are waiting in long lines. If you advertise for the park, advertise for some rides, and maybe have some free coupon deals or something, people should enter your park but you have to keep them in the park so they don't leave after 6 or 9 minutes of being in the park.

  • When you have a ride like a roller coaster or a log flume ride, it's always good to build paths above an exciting part of that ride like a big drop or even build a path right in the middle of a loop from a roller coaster so when people walk by they'll see the ride go over their heads or go under them at an exciting point. By doing this, it convinces people to go on the ride. A great tip if you want to make some money!

  • If you want to have the highest park rating, 999, you will have to have no barf or litter on the paths, no vandalized items like litter bins, lamps, and benches, and decent prices for rides and food items in the park.

  • The matter of time it takes for a guest to get off a ride and go back on it is critical. To save time and keep the ride running at a good rate, you must have the entrance to the ride near the exit. When people exit the ride, the first thing they can access to is the entrance to the ride again. By doing this you get more people on the ride a lot quicker and you keep the ride running at a good rate.

  • Every ride you build you should hire a mechanic for that ride. Make his walking boundaries very close to the exit of the ride so if you have a break down situation that involves death, like station brakes failure or control malfunction, the mechanic will respond quicker and fix the problem. If you build a coaster, make sure to have the exit at the very end of the station because when station brakes malfunction they always get fixed in the back. The mechanic will only have to walk straight ahead and he will fix the brakes immediately. This is a great tip to use so you can avoid deaths and bad publicity about that ride from guests.

  • When you put up a new ride in your theme park it's always good to price it around $5.00 for roller coasters and maybe $3.50 or $4.00 for rides like Bumper Cars and Merry-Go-Round. Advertise for that ride and people will start to line up. Pretty soon once you get a big line for the ride you'll make lots of cash because everyone pays the listed amount you have for the ride. After awhile, people will start to say that they don't want to pay that much to go on the ride. So later on in the game you'll have to start lowering down the price and you won't make much money off of the ride anymore, but it's a good tip for when you construct a ride to make some quick cash!

  • When you build a roller coaster, always build scenery to go with it. By doing this it makes the ride more exciting and thrilling for a guest. For example, if you have a mine ride, good scenery for it would be stuff like barrels, mine huts, wooden wheels, ect. This will make the ride not look so bare and people will like it. If you have fences on the side of your pathways, you might want to try to match the walls/fences with the rides and scenery it's around!

  • Once a ride starts to lose reliability and the percentage goes under 60%, close the ride down and don't do any test runs. Click on the tab with the picture of the gears and set the inspections for every 10 minutes. After every inspection the reliability goes up. You can then open the ride back up when it get's to the reliability percentage you feel is right. The ride will start to wear down the reliability again so you'll want to repeat this process. Sometimes after inspections when the ride is open, the reliability could go up as much as 10% or as less as 2%. This won't earn you any money from customers having the ride closed down, but higher reliability means less break down which means more customers!
