LADIES

AND

GENTLEMEN!

KID DYNAMITE,

MIKE TYSON!

The year is 1985. Prior to numerous spinoffs involving company mascots and corperate buy-outs in the industry, Nintendo develops a dual-screened, first person boxing title for the arcades, simply dubbed "Punch-Out!!!". Though it seemed like any other game in its genre, what set this game apart from any was the its heavy focus on strategy, all while keeping the game in a lighthearted, upbeat tone with less-than-likely boxers Glass Joe, Piston Hurricane, Bald Bull, Kid Quick, Pizza Pasta, and Mr. Sandman.

Following moderate success a year later, Nintendo drops the sequel to Punch-Out!!!, "Super Punch-Out!!!" (not to be confused with Super Punch-Out!!! for the SNES ). In addition to the six new opponents (Bear Hugger, Dragon Chan, Vodka Drunkenski, Great Tiger, Super Macho Man), an extremely useful dodge ability is implemented into the player's arsenal, breathing new life into the play mechanics of the first game.

"Mmm... babies..."

Two years later, Nintendo begins production on a NES port. While not a sequel, the game was a collaberation of both arcade games. Furthermore, the company feels that the old formula isn't sufficient for a hit, so they decide to license famous boxer "Iron" Mike Tyson to assist in reaching out to fans of the sport. Utilizing the property to its full potential, Nintendo includes Tyson as the final boss of the game. Packing an array of moves, including jabs, hooks, and quick uppercuts, this fiend was no easy pickling. His special and most common attack, the "Dynamite" Uppercut, usually begins in a fury of "left, right, left" combos. However, as with any other contender in the game, you won't have much of a problem passing this fiend if you grow accustomed to his body language.

Anyhow, it was apparent that his wife couldn't figure out a strategy when she later charged her husband with abuse and as a result, his likeness was removed from the game and replaced with character Mr. Dream.
