History:

Babes N Hats was, as far as we can tell, the first tournament in the NorthWest, possibly in North America, to be designated as 4/3. In 1993, the VUL, along with all other leagues that we knew of, was 5/2. We decided to push the envelope of gender equity in the sport by holding a 4/3 Hat tournament. The name Babes 'N Hats was chosen for obvious reasons.

In 1994, the VUL gave teams the option of 5/2 or 4/3 competition. A similar situation was occurring in Ottawa. In 1995 the VUL was 100% 4/3 and Co-ed tournaments started to use 4/3 recommended formats. By 1996 most Co-Ed tournaments were 4/3 and now it is hard to imagine even playing 5/2.

Currently Babes 'N Hats is one of the longest running tournaments, and possibly the longest running Hat Tournament in the World! I can't prove that, but it sounds about right...

Babes 'N Hats has always been about the people. Each year you get a new team, meet new people and have a new experiance. Maybe you win one year, and the next you are in the Beer Pool. You never know, but it's always the fun that you make it.
