After one of the worst white colds that the elves had ever known, spring time has finally come to the Mystic Rain Holt, too little too late.
The cubs that had been born durning the harsh winter, died from the bitter cold, and lack of food, as did many of the young elves, and most of the elders.
Desperate to keep his pack alive, Chief Frost Beard ventured closer to the humans camp in hopes of finding better game, and met with a cold, merciless death.
As the snow began to fall, what few elder there where left, declared the new Chief. Unsure, and afraid, Saber sought to repair the damage the winter had caused, and silently prayed that their number would increase once more, and that he would be able to follow in the footsteps of Chief's gone past, and once again unite the tribes.
It has been a year. Spring has come again, after a mild winter. The winter was preceeded by a war with the Trolls. The Trolls kidnapped an elf, and The holt formed together to get back one of their own. Saber killed the Troll Cheif with the help of his tribe. Though they were still recovering from the winter, they pulled through this with flying colors.
Still more elves, seem to be finding this small holt, made up of many elf tribes, and calling it home.
Holt Setting
In a small oval shaped glade, deep in the forest, the first thing you see is several large trees, with smaller trees filling in any gaps between them. There are openings on different levels, and different sides of the large trees. Steps have shaped into the trees, leading up to the different levels, so one can easily reach their den. Every opening in the tree, have skins hanging in the across the openings. In some, though, are pulled back. The wolfriders dens face to the west, away from the morning sun, preffering the night to the day. The other Elves that reside at the holt, the entrances to their Dens face to the East, towards the rising sun. Them preffering the day to the night.
In the center of the the glade, is a small fire pit, surrounded by stones, and over the fire pit is a spit, for the elves that prefer to eat their meat cooked, instead of raw. Around the fire pit, is also logs to sit on. Further back, are also logs for sitting. There is a large wooden frame, for the Tanner to work the skins on.
It is serene and fairly quiet...Most of the time. A little deeper in the woods is a small cave, where the elves' wolves reside, and off to the east, is a small rushing river, and waterfall, with a small pool under it. The elves go to bathe here, and get their water. Near the river is another cave good for hiding in. Far off to the west is a human encampment, forbidden by Saber, for any elf to go near, remembering the demise of their last cheif.
Dens
The dens are located in the trees that surround the glade that is in the center of their homes. They are shaped into the trunks of the trees. Most of them are low to the ground, the openings covered by skins to block out the cold in winter, and light in the daysleep time.
Of the very few dens located higher in the branches, for the Gliders, the steps are shaped into the trees. The steps go around the other den openings, up to a landing outside of the higher dens. The Glider's and Sun Villager's dens face to the east, as they rise with the sun. The Wolfrider's dens face to the west, with the rising of the moon, as they prefer the dark.
The inside of the dens are dark. There is a place that can either be raised, or it is slightly sunken in for the sleeping furs. There can be hooks and things of the sort, shaped inside to hang clothing on. There is places for baskets and gourds for water. Although they are not the roomiest of places, the Dens are just perfect for what, they are needed for.
