Beasts of the Land

This is the research area of the castle. Here the beasts of the land a tested in many diverse situations to determine what effects the Scourge have had on them or what natural abilities they possess of themselves. Though few have been found to date that are not already in the libraries around Barsaive there are still some that can only be found here.

Mephits are the scouts of the demon clans. They always travel without other mephits, and even though they are found in groups lead by Sparks, Mephits still veer away from the group only reporting to the Spark when information has been gathered. They range in height from 1 to 4 feet and have an average build, size, and shape of a Name-Giver of equal proportions, but weighing in at 40-160 pounds. Unlike some demons, Mephits also have wings equaling their height in length. These wings are fully functional for Mephits, though not so for most other demons possessing them. Their skin color is a hue of their clans element and always pale toned. They can both read and speak their native tongue.
These demons, like all other demons, have the natural ability to radiate their element to a range of 1 yard. To do so, they make a Spellcasting Test against anyone within the radius. If the test is successful, any targets affected take Step 6 damage as per the element. This ability takes a Karma Point to use and the Karma die is rolled. Like all other demons, Scourges have a higher resistance to damage from their natural element. The second Mystic Armor is against any spells of their clans element that are aimed at them.

Scourges are the grunt warriors of the demon clans. They usually travel in groups of 2-8 ravaging anything in their path. They range in height from 1 to 4 feet and have an average build, size, and shape of a Name-Giver of equal proportions, but weighing in at 50-200 pounds. Their skin color is a hue of their clans element and always pale toned. They can both read and speak their native tongue.
These demons, like all other demons, have the natural ability to radiate their element to a range of 1 yard. To do so, they make a Spellcasting Test against anyone within the radius. Sparks are the lowest and most abundant spellcasters of the demon clans. They usually travel without other Sparks though they have sometimes been seen with one other Spark. They are always found with a group of at least 2-8 Scourges, and at least 1 mephit. They range in height from 1 to 4 feet and have an average build, size, and shape of a Name-Giver of equal proportions, but weighing in at 40-160 pounds. Unlike their brutish brethen, Sparks have wings but they are not as useful as the wings of a Mephit. These wings span one-half their height. Their skin color is always the dominant hue of their clans element and always pale toned. They can both read and speak their native tongue as well as read and write magic.
