Sabine of Bavaria

This is Sabine in the traditional dress of women during the German Renaissance. This was probably painted after she and her husband regained control of Wuerttemberg. It is radically different from the portrait in 1530,which was done in the Italian style.

Ulrich VI of Wuerttemberg

The Duke in later years.

Upon regaining control of his duchy, Ulrich looked to Sabine to introduce fashion and encourage the education of women in the Court of Wuerttemberg. By allowing this, both he and Sabine paved the way for German ladies to be sought after in the finer courts of Europe.
