Final Fantasy VI made its debut in Japan for the Super Famicom. It was then released as Final Fantasy III in the United States. The reason that it was called Final Fantasy III was because it was the third Final Fantasy that was released in the United States. Final Fantasy was number 1, Final Fantasy IV was number 2, and then Final Fantasy VI was number 3 in the United States. It was then redone for the Playstation with new CG movies.
