Near the end of the Narn-Centauri war ship parts were becoming harder and harder to produce fast enough. The important Heavy Laser production was becoming straped as Q'Guan, Bin'Tak and the new Q'Guanith design were being producted. This lend to strange developement at the shipyard orbiting the Narn 'secret lab'. A near finished Ka'Toc was almost completed except for the Heavy Lasers. When the war started to go badly for the Narn the secret lab used available resources to refit the Ka'Toc with medium pulses rather than the normal Heavy Lasers simply to get another ship out for defense. The original Dar'Tok was at the Homeworld when the Centauri attacked, it was there as a staging grounds to be sent to the front line, however it found its self at the front line sooner than expected. It was destroyed in the battle for the Narn homeworld, but not until after it had destroyed a few Centauri crusiers, including crippling the Octurian battleship at the site. After such a promising performance the Narn WarLeaders made note of this and when the occupation was over a new version of the Ka'Toc, the Dar'Tok was comissioned. In order to handle all the systems for the new pulse weapons some of the hangar had to be removed, this lead to the removal of the entire hanger and the enlargement of the engine, so that the new Dar'Tok would be able to mantain fleet speeds. The inability of Ka'Tok to mantain fleet speeds was seen as a major flaw in the design by Narn WarLeaders since the ship needed to close to use its Mag Gun.
