The Abbai being mostly defensive in nature would often attack their opponents in subtle ways. During the Dilgar war, one of their more devious ideas was the creation of the Nasati Mineswapper. Often the Dilgar would place an IFF enhanced minefield in spacelanes where their ships could pass through safely but would prevent travel by their enemies. They would also sometimes secretly create one near a location that they would soon attack to create a fallback position. The Mineswapper was designed to enter minefields such as these, destroy many of the mines and replace them with ones carried in its specialized cargo bays. On many occasions the Dilgar were caught off-guard when they passed through what they believed was one of their own minefields but instead be hit by enemy mines!
