The verse finding deck is a moderate way of bringing another volunteer's attention to a specific
part of importance in Lemony Snicket books.
This code was developed by M-002, R-004 and myself, P, Head of V.F.D.
It works as follows:
You need atleast one deck of cards, and that is all.
The key for books is:
Ace = The Bad Beginning
2 = The Reptile Room
3 = The Wide Window
4 = The Miserable Mill
5 = The Austere Academy
6 = The Ersatz Elevator
7 = The Vile Vilage
8 = The Hostile Hospital
9 = The Carnivorous Carnival
10 = The Slippery Slope
Jack = The Grim Grotto
Queen = Book 12
King = Book 13
Joker = Lemony Snicket's Unauthorised Autobiography
2 Jokers = The Bears' Famous Invasion of Sicily
Books are displayed by a Spade in suit. So an Ace of Spades refers to The Bad Beginning
likewise a 10 of spades refers to The Slippery Slope.
The Clubs refer to the chapter. Thus each number represents itself and the key is as follows:
Ace = Total times by 2
2 = 2
3 = 3
4 = 4
5 = 5
6 = 6
7 = 7
8 = 8
9 = 9
10 = 10
Jack = 11
Queen = 12
King = 13
Joker = 1
and this key is mocked by the Diamonds = Page number (in the chapter)
and Hearts which refers to Line number (counted down from the top)
It may seem complex, but is quite easy to grasp.
For Example:
If a member is handed - a 5 of Spades, a king of Clubs, a king and a 6 of Diamonds and a 8 and Ace of Hearts.
5 of Spades = The Austere Academy
A King of clubs = Chapter 13
A king and 6 of diamonds = 13 + 6 = Page 19 in the chapter = 215
An 8 and ace of hearts = 8 times 2 = Line 16
