;) 20 December 2003

NHS will be participating in Cobb Family Christmas on the 20th (day after we get out). It's from noon to 5:30 I believe and it's at Jim R. Miller park (same place as Relay for Life and the North Georgia State Fair.) I think we still have spots left if you want to go. Email Brittany (slapbrittbrat@hotmail.com) for directions and to let her know you want to go and so on. Should be fun and it's just an all-around good thing.

;) Every Monday! 4:15 to 5:15!

Maria is heading up a weekly program to help out with the after school program at Tritt. I have not been myself but I have heard it is a ton-o-fun and as far as service projects go, it's E-Z as pi. I mean... pie. Just go twice (it's only an hour each time) to earn a service project. Go four times, and earn two! :) Isn't math fun?

;) Cobb Family Resources

Now that we've had our elementary level math lesson of the day, let's talk about Cobb Family Resources. Jessica heads up a popular program from last year to work with the childcare at CFR, which is a place that helps tutor adults to get their GED. I have only EVER heard positive reviews of this event. I am currently unsure of the dates, but all sign-ups (with dates) are on the NHS bulletin board near PPO. There are so many opportunities to go so sign-up. Directions are also on the Bulletin Board.

;) Mrs. Biga still needs your help!

Like the heading says... Mrs. Biga still needs your help. We need an NHS student over there every day to help her children with homework. (By the way, if you don't know, Mrs. Biga is a Pope science teacher out right now fighting cancer.) Sign-ups for this project are in Mrs. Pierce's room (318). Thanks to those of you who have already gone. It's extremely important that we continue to help her out. If you still have questions, see Mrs. Pierce. She should be able to give you more details.

;) Projects in the works

This year, we finally signed up early enough to participate in Cobb Family Christmas. Brittany tells us this is a fun event and for some odd reason, we're taking her word for it. In any event, we're aiming for a mid-Decemberish date and planning to send 30 NHS-ers to pick out toys and food for a Cobb family's Christmas (which, by the way is the nature of the event.)

Also, we're setting up a monthly project to help out with a store for foster parents run by a lady in our community. They need our help sorting clothes, playing with children and helping people shop. This store was established a few years ago to provide clothes, etc. (all donated) to foster parents for a very low cost. It's the only place like it in Georgia. We'll probably help them out on the 3rd Saturday of each month, starting in January, from 10-1.

So keep watching for details on these upcoming projects.
