Grill Inserts

I have full custom front and rear grill inserts. I used a product available at Home Depot called Gutter Gaurd. You will need two sheets to do the front (lower and upper) and back.

For the lower section:

Using one of the sheets, place it behind the opening in the front and trace around the edge and approximate the shape for the top where there are pieces that come down. You want to cut that shape out too so it has a flush mount. When you go to cut, keep the clips that it came with on, because you can use them to help hold it in there. You will want to add a coat of chrome paint to sharpen the look of it. Then what I did to hold it in there was I bought an "L" bracket and mounted it in the black plastic piece behind the center support piece. Then I used a bolt with a wing nut to hold the grill to that. Then slide the clips under the front facia to help hold it in there. Here are a couple pics of the "L" bracket holding up the middle.

For the Ram Air nostrils:

First I took off the Ram Air by Pontiac shroud under the hood by pulling out 8 retaining pins. Then you will notice there are silver trim rings around the nostrils. Each trim ring is help in by 2 pins. Now, you can try to pry them out, but they are very hard to get out. I went and bought new ones from an auto parts store. So, I just cut those pins out. With the trim rings out, i layed the grill over the back side of them and traced the trim rings onto the grill. Since you want them flush, there is some extra plactic on the back of the trim rings, using a utility knife, carefully shave that until it is flush. Then mark on your grill where you need to make notches for where the retaining clips go. Make sure you leave enough room when cutting to leave something to attach to. Then to attach the grill. On the bottom of the trim rings, there are pieces that hand down further that the rest to hold onto the bumber, drill a hole through the middle of these big enough to fit a smaller zip tie through. Then lay the grill on the back and place zip ties through the grill and through the drilled holes. Make sure you put the zip tie in sideways so it is flush with those pieces. Then you will want to put a coat of chrome paint on all of that. With the new pins, replace the trim rings and replace the Ram Air by Pontiac shroud.

For the rear section:

Using the remaining gutter gaurd, cut out a rectangle to cover the entire rear section. Put a coat of chrome paint on. Using an "L" bracket behind each of the support posts, zip tie the grill to the "L" brackets and your ready to go!

Here are a few pics of the finished product. I will get install pics up soon.
