Hegeman, Ariaantje Frans (b. 1717, d. ?)
Note: 2nd wife of Cornelis Viele.
Note: FamilySearch.org has her born about 1720 to FRANS OR FRANCIS HEGEMAN & ANTJEN RUARD
Change: Date: 27 MAR 2004
Note: Kathryn K.Viele gave her maiden surname as Swarthout, but without attribution. This is also the surname the DAR shows, again without evidence or attribution. In a later publication Kathryn Viele acknowledges that Cornelis' will and the land records confirm that she was the daughter of Simon Freer.

Note: She married Cornelis Pieterse Viele before 1745, probably at
Poughkeepsie, though I have never been able to find a record. I haven't
found any baptism records for their children, either. They do appear
together as sponsors of Rachel Dubois, daughter of Jeremiah Dubois and
Rachel Viele (Cornelis' sister).
To prove her identity, Kathlyne Viele states: "In 1795, (March 25) one
John Yerry and wife sell land at that place which John's parents bought
in 1770 of the heirs of Simon Freer of Dutchess County. The deed
contained this item: 'Whereas Simon Freer, Peter Low and wife Mary,
Peter Freer, Peter Leroy and wife Deborah, Cornelius Vielie and his son
Peter Vielie, eldest son and heir at law of Rachel, deceased daughter of

Simon Freer deceased and late wife of Cornelius Vielie, Peter van Kleeck
and wife Annetje, John Freer, Johannes Terpenning and wife Jenneke,
Jacobus Freer and Nathan Freer did by indenture bearing the date May 30,

certain piece of land in the town of Poughkeepsie containing 40 acres of
land, etc.'"
Note: Her ancestry is covered in "The Freer Family" by Ruth P. Heidgerd. There is a heavily adbridged version on the Internet complete with a family coat of arms.
