Abstracts of Wills we see (after applying corrections from vol 16): "In the name of God, Amen, June 17, 1688: I William Cooke (or Kooke) of New York. I appoint for my sole and universall heir, my son Thomas Kook, procreated by my wife Sara Kook, deceased. 'Signed and sealed at the house of Dirck Janse Woertman within the jurisdiction of Brookland, in Kings County.'" Witnesses, Dirck Janse Woertman, Jan Vandewater. To back up a minute, in the Brooklyn marriages we see: 1680, September 5: Thomas Coeck, "y[oung] m[an] from N[ieuw] Jorck" to Harmtjen Dircks, "m[aiden] from Breukelen [and] living there".

[Note. -- The house of William Kooke was on the south side of Peral street, west of Whitehall.] "In the name of God, Amen. Be it known unto every one whom it doth concern, that I, Thomas Kooke, of the city of New York, considering my present sickness. My dear wife, Harmettie Kooke, is to remain in full possission of all my estate without any contradiction from any body. If she remarries she shall give on-half to my children procreated by her, namely William, Dirck, and Sara Kooke. Dated September 20, 1689. Witnesses Adolph Pieterse, Jacob van Gezell, and William Bogardus. Proved January 7, 1689/0.

He Leaves all estate to his son Thomas Kooke, "procured by my wife Sara Kooke deceased." Signed at the house of Dirck Jansen Wooertman, within the jurisdiction of Brooklyn in Queens Co. (Written in Dutch language.)--In den Namen des Heeren, Amen, April 12, 1740, I, WILLIAM SCHEPMOES, of Kingston, in Ulster County, being sick in body. I leave to my wife Catharine the use of all estate during widowhood. I leave to my eldest son, Dirck Schepmoes, my homestead, and house and barn, on the Koore Righ, and my best horse and my negroes. I leave to my sons, Dirck and Johanes, all my farm, both meadows and upland, as now in my possession, except the homestead which I have given to my eldest son. The sons are to pay certain legacies to their sisters, Margaritie, wife of Abraham Van Steenbergh, Sarah, wife of Peter Dumon, Jr., Catharine, and Ariantie. All the rest to my children. I make my sons Dirck and Johanes, executors. Witnesses, G. Hardenbergh, Christofell Kierstede, Jacobus Van Dyke. Proved, before John Crook, Esq., October 8, 1750. At that time the son, Johanes Van Dyck, was dead.
