Note: 1 Feb 99 e-mail from RL Protzman In New Amsterdam in 1642 In Albany < 1656 when he purchased a boat there Boatswain for Dutch West Indies Co in 1658 Pearson's "First Settlers of Albany", p. 75 Tepper's "Immigrants to the Middle Colonies", p. 9 Pioneer New Netherland Settler, NYGBS, Vol 65, p. 5 From Turnhout, Antwerp
The wife of this Pieter has never been established for sure other than her first name was "Maria". She may actually be "Maria Donckesen", dau of Rev. James Duncanson of Stirlingshire, England > and his wife, Helena Livingston, as per Gordon L. Remington, F.U.G.A., in his
article "The Duncanson Wives of Four New Netherland Settlers: Glen, Teller, Powell, and Loockermans," The New York Genealogical and Biographical Record, #128 (1997). I believe that the "Maria Teller" b. ca. 1648 married Pieter
Johannes Van Alen of Kinderhook and had at least 2 children, Johannes who m. Christina Ten Broeck and Willem who m. Marrietje Van Petten.
"Maria Donckesen" had a sister named Margariet who m.
Willem Teller and they were the parents of the "Maria Teller" b. ca. 1648. Therefore, Maria Donckesen (thought to be the actual wife of Pieter Janse Loockermans) was the maternal *aunt* of Maria Teller. As per Descendants of Willem Teller 1616-1701, written by Lauraine Horbak, Genealogist of Sullivan Co., NY, pub. in 1993: " 15 Mar 1674/75 attorneys for Marytie Van Alen, widow of the late Peter Van Alen, sold the property Peter had urchased in 1672. Sometime after this Marytie changed her identity to Maria Loockermans for on 4 July 1676 Andries Teller, attorney for Maria "Lokermans" appears in a lawsuit over a parcel of land. On 15 Aug. 1673 Maria Loockermans, widow of Peter Van Alen, appeared on her own behalf. So it appears that Maria (Teller) Van Alen married sometime between 1674 and 1676 a Mr. Pieter Loockermans.
Lauraine Horbak has not been able to discover which Pieter Loockermans". Perhaps, Maria Teller m. as a 2nd spouse, her first cousin Pieter Pieterse Loockermans, son of Pieter Janse Loockermans and Maria Donckesen?
