Conductor and Educator
Kimberley Rose Peters

Conductor Kimberley Rose Peters, originally from Connecticut, has lived in Colorado since 1993 with her husband, Scott (a Colorado native). She has an extensive and varied musical background. She holds a B.A. in Vocal Performance and Psychology, (with an emphasis on speech, music, and the brain) from Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, MA, and a Masters in Vocal Performance from New England Conservatory in Boston, MA.

Since she was very young, Kimberley knew that she wanted to be a musician. Growing up in a musical family gave her many opportunities to develop her gifts; beginning piano lessons at age 7, adding the clarinet in 5th grade, from a young age singing with her family at church and at various events, as well as in choirs, singing solos, acting in musicals, and playing the piano for jazz band, choirs, and at church. She began teaching piano at age 16. Throughout high school and college she participated in as many music activities as time would allow including marching band, travelling for the college in a quartet and spending a summer at the Aspen Music School in Aspen, CO.

After completing her Masters degree, she went back to ENC and there she taught voice, directed a woman’s chorus, was the vocal coach for various musicals and travelling quartets, directed the pit orchestra for musicals, judged regional vocal competitions, was the soprano soloist for Handel’s “Messiah” and other oratorios, accompanied on the piano as needed, and gave private piano lessons. She also participated in a variety of opera workshops, directed an award winning youth choir, sang on national and local Christian television, was the opening act for Christian recording artists, recorded two solo gospel albums, and traveled the U.S. giving solo gospel concerts.

Since moving to Colorado, her musical energy has been focused on her private voice and piano studio, conducting drama workshops, recording studio projects, along with many church activities where she directed the adult choir, sang in the worship band, was director of music for Women’s Ministries, and helped with children’s music. Since 1998 she continues to be a wedding pianist and soloist at the Chapel at Red Rocks.

Now, as a homeschool mom of three fabulous kiddos, her music is geared more to that which involves and enriches her children. She teaches just a few private students and, at her church, leads children’s worship through the year as well as at VBS. She is also the director of the children’s Music & Drama program.

Aside from music, Kim also enjoys working in her fruit-bearing yard and vegetable garden, canning, making jams, baking, and sewing. She works alongside her husband as they’ve remodeled and built onto their house and developed his plumbing business.

“While I love to perform, it brings me great joy to teach and encourage others in the performing arts. Music is everywhere in our world – what fun it is to be not just a listener, but a participator. I want everyone to love making and enjoying music for their entire life; it is so enriching!”
