Journal: The Cadette Years





June 2007
Hershey Bound! We all had a blast even though it was a 12 hour drive which included 7 states! Pennsylvania was a beautiful state. I think we shocked everyone with our "southern manners". The girls had a great time eating at Fuddruckers on Friday night and enjoying Hershey Park on Saturday.

May 2007
Our troop supper was held at O'Charley's. The year stars and discs and various awards were presented. Unfortunately, the troop was unable to decide what to do for a bridging ceremony. We will probably do something special at our fall camping trip in September.
Sleepy Hollow hosted the 30th Camp Mash this month. Only five of us attended....Seabiscuit, Cherry, Soprano, Clover, and & Ms. T. We had a lot of fun cooking, eating, and laughing. Seabiscuit and Clover received awards for Cadette Scouts for April and Highest Cookie Sellers in Sleepy Hollow (for Cadette and Senior). It got a little bit cold at night sleeping in tents, but we still had fun!.
Seabiscuit and Clover (aka Jasmine) attended a wildlife workshop. They worked on activities towards the Wildlife IPA. They and about 10 other Cadettes were the "guinea pigs" for this project.

April 2007
Thanks to Jasmine, Kelsey, and Seabiscuit for participation in the National Youth Service Day Celebration. The girls did free face-painting.
Sleepy Hollow hosted a Girl Scout Recycle America event, but unfortunately, no girls attended from our troop due to a committment.
We will begin working on the requirements for Bridging to Seniors, activities for Camp MASH, and the booth for our April Project.

March 2007
Our troop supper was held at Lenny's Subs. Info was given out for April and May.
Ms. Tracey hosted a slumber party. Only four girls came over, but a few decisions were made for the Hershey Trip.

We will continue working on the World of Understanding IPA for Thinking Day and Girl Scout Month. We are representing Puerto Rico at Sleepy Hollow's March event.
We continued working on the 2007 Cookie Sale Pin. We have been selling 1932 boxes of cookies!

February 2007
Our Troop Supper was held at Paco's.
Sleepy Hollow hosted its annual Dad and Daughter Dance. Unfortunately, no one from our troop will be attending.
We worked on the World of Understanding IPA for Thinking Day.

January 2007
We had our troop supper at Pasta Bella.
Sleepy Hollow hosted its annual Older Girl Mystery Dinner and Theater. Seabiscuit, Patrice, Kelsey, and Ms. T. attended the event. Fortunately, none of our girls were the murderer!
Ms. Tracey hosted a Cookie Rally and Slumber Party! More time was spent on the kitchen aide positions at CMW and on boys.
We worked on the 2007 Cookie Sale Pin and the Travel IPA in preparation for our Hershey PA Trip.
Sleepy Hollow hosted its annual Skating Lockin! Isis, Sarah, Seabiscuit, & Ms. T. participated.

December 2006
Ms. Tracey hosted a New Year's Slumber Party for girls who needed someplace to go! Maecy, Patrice, Kelsey, Jasmine, Seabiscuit, & Ms. T. stayed awake until 5 AM. The girls played games, designed My Spaces, and dressed themselves up as models (with photos).
Our troop supper was held at O'Charley's. The Fitness to Fashion patch and 2007 calendar patches were given out.
Sleepy Hollow hosted the Mother and Daughter Karioke and Crafts. Girls and their moms created crafts that were judged and given to the senior citizen centers. Seabiscuit and Ms. T. were the only ones from our troop to attend.
The girls finished working on the Fitness to Fashion IPA. They had a blast making outfits out of toilet paper and creating a dance routine to Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

November 2006
Our monthly troop supper was held at Moe's Southwestern Restaurant.
Sleepy Hollow hosted an Older Girl Challenge. Older girls worked the adventure course at one of the local Girl Scout camps and spent the night at camp. Lorren and Ms. T. attended the event.
The girls worked on the Fitness to Fashion IPA. Natural facial ingredients were tested with a lot of laughing and pretty hairstyles were made with a lot of "oohhhs".
Sleepy Hollow hosted a Challenge Day, which was a mini retreat. The girls made scrapbooks, bracelets, turkeys, balloon art, grave rubbings, and gingerbread houses. Seabiscuit and Ms. T. were the only ones who attended from our troop.
Our fall camping trip (actually pre-winter) at Camp Meriwether was a success! We participated in the Barn Blast, which was sponsored by the Equestrian Club, and shot several arrows at the archery range. Our cooking skills were "tested" by the chilly weather, but we learned a few new tricks! Everyone worked together when it came to fires and cooking. Jasmine almost caught herself on fire with Ms. Tracey's new "firestarters"". Ahhhhhh....I just love to camp (Ms. T.)!

October 2006
Sleepy Hollow hosted "Daisy's Days" in honor of Juliette Low's birthday. Our troop had to change its skit from the wedding to Daisy's driving experiences. Seabiscuit, DQ, Kelsey, Stephanie, and Ms. T. attended the event.
We worked on our planning for camp. Ms. T. took a workshop on different cooking methods and everyone decided to change their meal plans.

September 2006
Ms. T. hosted a slumber party this month. It was decided that our year-end trip would be to Hershey and Philadelphia, PA.
Our Troop Supper was held at Lenny's. We discussed the Sleepy Hollow events and the slumber party.
Our meetings have been focused on upcoming events and the Sleepy Hollow event, "Daisy Days". We will be performing Daisy's wedding.

August 2006
Our Troop Supper was held at Paco's. Our end-of-year trip is still undecided.
Ms. T. hosted a slumber party. Everybody was there except two girls. The end-of-year trip was discussed. It came down to a tie between Huntsville, AL and caving in Tennesse. The rest of the night was spent on eating, dancing, and watching movies.
Sleepy Hollow hosted a swimming party to welcome back Girl Scouts. Tiara, Seabiscuit, & Ms. T. attended.
Patrice, Kelsey, Seabiscuit, & Ms. T. worked at the "Back to School" event at Milford Church of God. Seabiscuit and Patrice took turns being a clown. Since only 3 out of the troop's 11 girls participated, Ms. T. treated the girls to dinner at O'Charleys.

July 2006
Plans were made for our August service project and July troop supper.

June 2006
Ms. Tracey hosted a slumber party this month. The girls enjoyed watching movies, playing games, and eating pizza!

May 2006
We had our troop supper and awards at Pasta Bella. It's a wonder that we were not asked to leave because we could not stop laughing! I made each girl a frame with different pictures from events this year. Several girls received the Uncover the Evidence and Sweet Shoppe IPA's. Everyone received their yearly star and disc.
Sleepy Hollow hosted its annual Camp MASH without sickness or rain. The girls had a lot of fun with swimming, experimental cooking, talking around the campfire, and just being with each other. Jasmine received April Cadette Scout of the Month and the troop received April Troop of the Month.


Get Ready....North Carolina, here we come and there we go!!!

We all voted that this was the best "big trip" so far. The people were wonderful and so helpful. Only one of us fell out of the raft at the last falls and that was Seabiscuit. She was bruised up, but survived. On Sunday, we went shopping in Bryson City and visited the Road to Nowhere.

April 2006
Sleepy Hollow will host a Pirate Treasure Hunt this month. Unfortunately, Troop 625 will not be attending.
The girls finished the Sweet Shoppe IPA with Mystery Treats. Seabiscuit coordinated the activity. The mystery treats were Lemon Cooler Pie and Tagalong Brownies.

March 2006
Sleepy Hollow hosted a Bowling Lock-in this month. Patrice, Kelsey, Courtney, Jasmine, Tiara, Lorren, and Ms. T. attended. Lorren and Courtney bowled the most strikes!
Ms. Tracey hosted a slumber party this month. The girls enjoyed watching movies and eating!
The girls worked on the Sweet Shoppe IPA from the Rolling Hills GSC. Jasmine lead an activity on sugar substitutes. The girls voted that cookies did not taste good with Splenda!
Troop 625 unloaded and sorted 1,800 boxes of cookies. They also worked on activities for the Cookie Sale Pin.

February 2006
Our monthly troop supper was held at Paco's Restaurant. Plans for March were made.
We celebrated World Thinking Day by playing games and learning about other countries. We also learned about the Four World Centres. We had an World Friendship Candle Ceremony and Jasmine was presented with the World Association Pin.
Sleepy Hollow hosted its annual Dad and Daughter Dance this month. Unfortunately, no one from our troop attended.

January 2006
Our monthly troop supper was held at Paco's Restaurant. Plans for February were made.
Sleepy Hollow hosted a Mystery Theater and Dinner for Cadettes and Seniors. "Who Killed Santa Claus" was this year's play. Seabiscuit was an animal lover, Kelsey was an airplane lover, and Jasmine was a man. Even Ms. T. portrayed had to act. She was Dancer and Prancer! A good time was had by all.
Ms.Tracey hosted a Cookie Rally - Slumber Party this month. Plans were made for the whitewater rafting and camping trips in May. Afterwards, the girls ate pizza and watched movies.
Sleepy Hollow hosted its annual Skating Lock-in. Isis, Maecy, Seabiscuit, and Ms. Tracey attended. Maecy received Cadette Scout of the Month for December.

December 2005
Our monthly troop supper was held at Paco's Restaurant. Plans were made for January 2006.
Sleepy Hollow hosted Christmas Around Town this month. Unfortunately due to weather, the event was held inside Kmart. Each troop sang songs while customers watched. Troop 625 held its own with Patrice, Maecy, Kelsey, Nundai, Seabiscuit, and Jasmine singing and playing. Seabiscuit played the violin and Jasmine played the cello.

November 2005
Sleepy Hollow hosted a Mom and Daughter Bingo Night. Kelsey, her Mom, Seabiscuit, and Ms. Tracey attended.
Ms.Tracey hosted a slumber party this month. The girls decided that Disney World would have to wait until 2007. Instead, they will venture to North Carolina and go whitewater rafting at the Nantahala Outdoor Center.
The girls began working on a new interest project award, Uncover the Evidence.

October 2005
Sleepy Hollow hosted Daisy's Birthday Swap. Troop 625 taught girls how to make a swap necklace or swap sash. Other troops had a swap making booth.Tiara, Seabiscuit, and Ms. Tracey participated.
The girls completed the Maize in 1 hour at Cagle's Dairy Farm. We all had a lot of fun getting lost in the cornstalks! Thanks to Kelsey, Tiara, Shelby, Jasmine, Maecy, and Courtney for participating!
The girls are currently working on the Discovering Our History Patch Program.

September 2005
The girls have worked on the Camping IPA this month and last month.
Sleepy Hollow will host a community service project with Cobb County Parks and Recreation. They will clean up Heritage Park. Unfortunately, Troop 625 will not be attending because we will be at CAMP!
Troops 625 and 2030 camped at Camp Meriwether this month. The girls had a SUPER TIME! Activities included tye-dying, canoeing , walking, camp store, and cooking.A Rededication Ceremony was held at the closing of camp. Troop 625 received the Camping IPA.

August 2005
We started the month off with fewer girls, but several girls have possible recruits. We are doing a Troop Supper once a month. We will eat and plan our activities for the upcoming month. Also, we will work on planning for our Disney World trip in 2006.
Sleepy Hollow hosted a Wacky Water Works this month, but unfortunately, Troop 625 did not attend.
Ms.Tracey hosted a welcome back slumber party for the troop. The girls ate pizza and made plans for the upcoming year!

June & July 2005
We took a much needed break. The few girls that were seen enjoyed being with each other. Goals and ideas were discussed.

May 2005
Charleston SC....Here we are! After a 9 hour trip that should have been 5 hours, we arrived in Charleston. The girls enjoyed riding go-carts and bumper boats at Frankies Fun Park. We ate dinner at Sticky Fingers Restaurant and then enjoyed a tour of Charleston in a carriage ride. On Sunday, we shopped at the Old Market and ended our trip with a very boring IMAX movie. Overall, the trip was a success!
Another year. The girls were presented with their stars and disc representing one Cadette year. We also tied up loose ends for the Charleston Trip.
The girls worked on the Audio Visual Production IPA, but unfortunately were unable to finish it.
Sleepy Hollow hosted its annual Camp MASH! Kelsey was the only girl to represent our troop at the camp this year. The remaining girls said "if Ms. Tracey is not there, then I'm not going!" That's okay, because we are troop camping in the fall.

April 2005
Ms.Tracey hosted a slumber / birthday party for herself! Lorren, Kelsey, Tiara, Courtney, Shelby, Nundai, and Kaila were there to celebrate!
The girls are now starting the Audio Visual Production IPA.
Sleepy Hollow hosted a Survival of the Troops this year. Troops got to show who the best campers were. Kaila, Lorren, Kelsey, Shelby, Tiara, Courtney, and Ms. Tracey attended the event. Kaila received Cadette Scout of the Month.

March 2005
Cookies, Cookies, Cookies! We sold over 2500 boxes of cookies this year. Watch out Charleston!
The girls completed the Cookie Dough IPA. They were presented with their badges and "special person" ribbons at the annual Pizza Party.

February 2005
Ms.Tracey had one of her crazy slumber parties this month! Somehow, her bra found its way into her freezer!
The girls are working on different countries for World Thinking Day.
Sleepy Hollow hosted its annual Dad and Daughter Dance. Only Kaila attended the dance this year.

January 2005
It's COOKIE TIME again! This year, we are going to Charleston, South Carolina. We are working on the Cookies and Dough IPA.
Sleepy Hollow hosted its second annual Mystery Theater for Cadettes and Seniors.Tiara, Lorren, Kelsey, Shelby, Courtney, and Ms. Tracey attended "Bar-b-que with a Vampire". Lorren and Shelby were cheerleaders and Courtney was a friend to Kelsey's character. Tiara turned out to be a werewolf and Kelsey turned out to be a vampire, but not the one who killed off the main character. The girls really enjoyed the mystery dinner and are looking forward to it next year.
Sleepy Hollow hosted its annual Skating Lock-in. Kelsey received Cadette Scout of the Month. Brooke, Jamaica, Shelley, Courtney, Isis, Nundai, Kaila, Tiara, and Lorren skated all night! Ms. Tracey stayed up all night, but did not skate.

December 2004
Sleepy Hollow hosted the Christmas Caboose Retreat for the third year. Girls participated in workshops on everything from candlemaking to coffee can art. Nundai, Courtney, Kelsey, Tiara, Lorren, and Ms. Tracey had a super time!
The girls completed the Creative Cooking IPA. They collected cake mixes and frosting for Christmas baskets. They prepared various foods such as a vegetarian meal, fudge, and sugarless Kool-aid!

November 2004
The girls are now starting the Creative Cooking IPA. They are divided into 2 teams and cooking a different item every week for the next few weeks.
Sleepy Hollow hosted a Mother Daughter Luau Dance. Lorren was presented with Cadette Scout of the Month. Lorren, Kelsey, Tiara, Kaila, and Moms had fun.
Ms. Tracey hosted a slumber party this month. We all stayed up and watched movies and of course ATE!
We had our Investiture, Rededication, and Court of Awards Ceremony this money. Two girls were invested and thirteen of us (12 girls and the leader) were rededicated in a very simple ceremony. The Games for Life IPA was presented to those who had earned it.

October 2004
Sleepy Hollow's Annual Yard Sale took place this month. The troop made $166 this year.
Sleepy Hollow is hosting Daisy's Pursuit in celebration of her birthday.
The girls are still working on the Games for Life IPA.

September 2004
Sleepy Hollow hosted Crazy Collectibles this month. 150 Girl Scouts ventured out into the neighborhoods collecting food and toiletries. 2009 items were collected!! Lorren, Courtney, Kelsey, and Ms. Tracey collected 64 items in Kelsey's neighborhood. Way to go girls!
The girls have been working on the Games for Life IPA.

August 2004
We enjoyed a weekend of camping with Troop 6970 at Camp Timber Ridge. The girls stayed up until the early hours of the morning!! The girls played hide-n-seek in the dark with Brownie Troop 1005 from Lawrenceville. Marshmellows and ghost stories were shared around the fire too.
Sleepy Hollow hosted a Bingo with the Moose Night. The girls will play bingo for different prizes at the local Moose Lodge.
We started the month off with 2 new girls, Tiara and Shelly. That makes us 14 girls! A lot of info went out to parents and a lot of ideas were discussed. And it has been voted on....2005 - Charleston, SC and 2006 - Disneyworld!

June & July 2004
We took a much needed laid back approach to the meetings. Few girls attended, but we did set goals and discussed places to go.
