  3. www.educationworld.com/special_ed/ This website is an interactive site for anyone researching special education or anything related to the subject.  It touches on specific disabilities and has information and advise for specific issues.  There is a message board for discussion and relating to others with similar problems.
  4. www.nichcy.org NICHCY provides information and makes referrals in areas related to: specific disabilities, early intervention, special education and related services, individualized education programs, family issues, disability organizations, professional associations, educational rights, transition plans and much more.  They will also respond to your specific questions.
  5. www.wrightslaw.com You will find hundreds of articles, cases, newsletters, and other information about special education law and advocacy in the Wright’s Law Libraries.  They provide accurate, up-to-date information about advocacy for children with disabilities.
  6. www.specialednews.com The website is designed to offer unique resources to special education professionals in one convenient place.  They have a discussion board, links to other sites, and keep track of news nationally about the special education field.

  15. www.cec.sped.org/indel.html The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is the largest international professional organization dedicated I=to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, students with disabilities, and/or the gifted.  CEC advocates for appropriate governmental policies, sets professional standards, provides continued professional development, advocates for newly and historically underserved individuals with exceptionalities.  They also help provide professionals conditions and resources necessary for effective professional practice.

  22. www.myturnnow.com This website is a not-for-profit organization that facilitates the adoption of children with special needs.  The children are either members of a minority race, handicapped, over the age of eight, or members of sibling group that needs to be adopted together – in other words those traditionally considered unadoptable. 
  23. www.asperger.org The website is full of information on Asperger Syndrome ranging from adult services, information about the disease and related conditions.  There is also a link for support groups and the most recent news and updates about the syndrome.
  24. www.fetalalcoholsyndrome.org This website is a not-for-profit organization working for the welfare of individuals who have fetal alcohol syndrome and their families.  They are trying to educate others about this disability to prevent future generations from having to deal with the effects.
