This webpage consists of a whole unit on "Nutrition and Your Body." The unit lessons can be viewed under Microsoft Publisher in the Kentucky Lesson Plan format, which will have to be viewed seperately or in a single Word document. The worksheets can be viewed in Word format and go with the Nutrition Unit and specific lessons. Thank you for taking an interest in this unit. I will keep updating with great sites that can work with this unit in the future.
In this unit we are going to learn about nutritious foods using the food pyramid. We are also going to learn about how food affects our bodies, good and bad. For example, brushing your teeth after meals and eating sweets is important so that you do not get cavities. Also, the digestive system in our bodies is used to process the nutritious food that we eat to create energy that we need to do work and think. This connects to the National Standards because the Students will comprehend concepts related to health, will demonstrate the ability to practice health-enhancing behaviors and reduce health risks.
