Abstract
of Teaching Philosophy
My
personal philosophy of education is largely progressivist. I do have core beliefs on curriculum that
are essentialist in nature because I feel that students need the academic
fundamentals to later function at a higher level in life. I feel that the students should be taught these
basics in a more progressive manner than they have been in the past. Children need to have a good education and
the wisdom of knowledge to help them grow into a responsible adult. Student’s need more than the academic basics
to help them grow, they need social and life skills so that they may apply
their knowledge and succeed in life. In
my progressive viewpoint, I feel that children need to be taught in an
environment where they can feel free to explore and discover the world around
them. They need to know that learning
experiences are all around them, not just in books.
