The death occurred on November 29, at her residence, Lawrence Streeet, Wellington South, of Mrs. Clara Fulgentia Haines, widow of Walter Handsome Haines, for over forty years a resident of Takaka, Nelson. The late Mrs. Haines was born in Nelson City 69 years ago, and was the daughter of the late Mr. I. S. M Jacobsen, architect. She went to Takaka on her marriage, where her family of four sons and eleven daughters were born. Of this large family, all but one survive to mourn their loss. During her last illness Mrs. Haines was attended by the Rev. Father Mark Devoy, S.M., of St Anne's, Newtown, who also celebrated the Requiem Mass on December 1. Much sympathy will be felt with the children of the deceased - Mesdames Geo. Girling-Butcher, G. B. Carr, Thos. Pender, A. Kingswell (Wellington), Baumfield (Napier), Edmonds (Melbourne), Sister Lucy (Convent of Mercy, Wellington) and Misses Therese, Elsie, and Constance Haines (Wellington), Messrs. Walter, Augustus, Ernest and Malcolm Haines - and her twenty grandchildren. - RIP.
