I had lived in Christchurch for a while, but not managed to visit the grave of my grandparents, Blake and Martha HUFFAM (nee CASTALANELLI). One day, on an aimless drive, Graham and I found ourselves near the cemetery, and decided to visit. I had been at an earlier stage with Mum, so knew roughly where the grave was. The cemetery is signposted off Linwood Ave, and entrance for this is best by the western gate. Not far in, and the grave is under a tree to your right about 20 metres from the roadway.
I brushed off some dirt, and read the inscription. Martha had died on 8 April 1984, and the date was 8 April 2000. Of all the days in the year, we had unwittingly picked that one...!
Below is a photo taken not long after Blake's death in 1973, and so the inscription for Martha is not shown.
