While you are here, I have an essay for school that I want all my visitors to read. I hope you learn from it.

Today, many people don't seem to realize how much worse their lives could be. It annoys me to think that people don't understand how well they live. My sole purpose is to tell everyone about the real world. I'm removing the blinders your parents used to protect you from the world and tossing you into the cruel reality of life. This is the real world.

I was 16 years old and had just come home from school. My friend was having problems with his chemistry grades and had come to me for advice. After convincing him everything would be ok, I decided to spend a little time on the Internet in chat rooms. Maybe something would make me forget about my problems. I never knew how right I would be.

I had gone to a chat room and noticed that one of my friends, Amy, was extremely quiet. When I asked what was wrong she broke into tears and left for another chat room. I wasn't about to leave a friend in pain, so I followed. After asking once more, she told me what was wrong. Someone had quietly broken into her house, and raped her. After a brief moment of shock, I spent the next few hours calming her down, and she finally reported it to the police. This is just the beginning of the story.

A day or two later, she came back with news from the police. The tests showed that she was pregnant with twins. The police also found the person that raped her, but he was dead. When Amy told her ex-boyfriend what had happened, he was going to come back to her. He was willing to accept children that weren't his to keep her, but on the road going to where Amy lived, he became a victim of a three car pile up. He would have had a chance to live if somebody had stopped to make sure he was okay, but the people kept driving down the road. Things only got worse.

The mother of the rapist, I'll call her Lucy, divulged information from Amy's doctor about the twins. Lucy also demanded custody of the children on the basis that Amy didn't currently have a job. She even went as far as to go to Amy's house and use its condition in the law suit to gain custody of the twins. I've told this story with Amy's permission because, like me, she wants everyone to open their eyes.

The next time anyone wonders whether or not they should have sex with their significant other, I just want them to realize that it isn't as big a problem as people think. Amy didn't have a choice. Somebody she didn't even know broke into her house and raped her. That's the reality of the world. That is a real problem.

To anybody with unexpected pregnancy, you do have a real world problem, however things could be worse. I know it will change your life forever, but at least you know who the father is. Be grateful you don't have twins that belong to a stranger. Things can almost always go from worse to worst.

To all the people out there that are considering abortion because they don't know if they can handle having a child, look at Amy. She has taken twins into her care from somebody she doesn't even love. Hell, you probably even have a father that is alive to help take care of the children. She had to fight to keep her children, and they haven't even been born yet. She protected them before they were even out of the womb. Take responsability for your actions.

There are many blinders to be removed. Many parents try to protect their children, but life will always shine through the fabrications of mankind. The blinders made of money and popularity are just a few of them, but the truth must start somewhere. Nobody has the right to hide from the truth.

I'll start with a rich person I've met. Since I can't use his real name, I'll call him Bob. He lives in a two story house by a lake, owns three pets, has a car, and has as much money as he needs. His parents kept him busy all his life with sports and games to keep him from finding out how bad the world can be. He gets all the latest video games and whatever else he asked for at Christmas. Of course, I couldn't stand for all of this, so I personally showed him the real world.

I took him to the worst places I knew existed. I took him to dark alleys where he saw people whose only home was a cardboard box. He saw the poor people dressed in rags hanging around parking lots to beg for spare change as other people left the stores. He saw the hungry people starving right next to restaurants because they had no money. He heard the screams for help echoing through the night. When I brought him back to his home, I could tell he had never seen or even thought about these people. When he left the car, I saw a single tear fall to the ground.

My next example is the popular person in school. I'll call him John. John was like most popular people. He formed his own group of friends and stayed away from people that were considered uncool. He chose who he wanted to talk to and didn't even consider potential friends because of their lack of popularity. He began to feel that he was better than other people and acted the part too. He even told me that he didn't have any problems. However, life has a certain aspect of irony.

I took it upon myself to destroy his snobbish attitude and show him what he had was not to be abused. I took him away from the protection of teachers and parents. I made him talk to the other people that he avoided, and he learned quite a few lessons. He discovered that he didn't have as many friends as they thought. His "friends" were trying to avoid him because of his attitude. He also learned that one of his friends had even been spreading rumors about him to steal his girlfriend. I showed him the truth and left him to attend his own mess. As the saying goes, he was, "fed to the wolves".

Many children are being coddled by their parents. They have a such a narrow view of life that a bad hair day is a problem and failing a class is a crisis. Their parents have protected their children from the world to keep them as pure and innocent as possible, but have placed them in more danger by doing so. This isolates the children into a fantasy world where next to nothing goes wrong. While this does lead to a better life as a child, it also leads to a downfall later in life. The real problems that they never even considered suddenly appear they don't know how to deal with the hardships that are heaped upon them. The sad concept is that there are so many limited views.

Latest provoking thought I've seen/heard
Am I right to believe that humans can only define their lives by the pain they've suffered? Why else do we boast of scars, troubles, and hardships? If people hold personal tragedy over personal happiness, then....do people really look forward to their pain?????
