My beautiful early Mother's Day present arrived on Saturday afternoon after about 9 hours of labor and only 15 minutes of pushing. She was 6 lbs 3 oz and almost 19 inches long and only 3 days late! It was a much better experience than with Madison which was took much longer and she was 6 days late! Here's how it went:

I had been having on and off contractions on Friday evening, but nothing to painful or consistent. Kenny and I tried to time then as we went to sleep, but they stopped coming so we quit. This was about 11:30 pm. About 2:30 am I woke to major contractions that were coming about 7 minutes about. This soon became 6 min, which became 5, which became 4, all in the space of about 45 minutes. Then they were coming so hard I could no longer talk, so we called the doctor. The doctor on call was already at the hospital delivering a baby so he said come on in. I got there about 4 am and the triage nurse check me and I was only at 3 cm!! I had been at 2.5 on Wednesday and the contractions were coming about every 3 minutes so I was in shock. Anyway, since I was overdue and having regular contractions the doctor said I could stay. We got to our room and they got me ready to get my epidural. It was going to be about 1 hour before the anesthesiologist could come, so the nurse gave me some Stadol to take the edge off. I do not recommend this drug. It made me feel awful. I am very sensitive to pain medication and this was the worst. Anyway they finally get me hooked up to the epidural, which was heaven!!!  My water broke as soon as they were finished putting the epidural in.  By this time it was 7 am and the nurses were switching shifts. My new nurse came in and asked me when I was last checked for progress and I said 4 am. She couldn't believe they had given me the epidural and never checked me again. She said she would check me and if I wasn't dilating very much we would get me some piticon. She checked and I was at 7 cm! Hurray! She said no piticon for you! So then we just hung out and waited for me to progress. I made it to 9 cm by 10 am and then I just quit. The baby's heart rate was decelerating a little with each contraction, so she gave me some piticon to help it along and that did the trick. I started pushing about 12:25 pm and at 12:42 pm out she popped.  I think it only took about 5 or 6 pushes, but I am not sure.  Madison was delivered by forceps so this was my first experience with pushing.  The cord was loosely wrapped around her neck which was causing the heart rate drop, but she was pink and screaming as they pulled her out.
