Introduction

Well, well, this NL is on time. I'm very glad AOL finally let me send it. :) I hope you all enjoy it, feel free to mail me anytime! :)

Club News

SCOM (Sharks Code of Membership) is going to be upheld whether some of you like it or not. It is necessary to maintain basic rules of membership. Only 2 members have violated this code so far. Let us HOPE that no one else seeks to disobey it.

The webpage is well underway, if you know HTML, JAVA, CGI, or can make pictures and buttons, please reply to this newsletter with "(Put whatever you're going to help with here, i.e.: HTML, Java, Pictures, CGI) Help".

The new jobs system is very similar to the EBG's new job system, however, we came up with this one first, and it really isn't a copy of the EBG's system, well, see for yourself. :)

There will be NO MEETING on Saturday this week due to Thanksgiving. I will be on vacation. (VACATION, YES!)

I will be on vacation from Thursday - Sunday afternoon.

The Shark Meetings

The Shark meetings are a cool way to chat with other people. We play some fun games in there and we get to know each other. If you are fast to type or fast to guess, You'll have a good time. Moreover, the meetings are a good way to get points, and promos and anything else that you could want. The leaders are almost always there, and I can guarantee that you will have one leader there at all times. Besides.. You get a special prize if we fill the room in time.

The Shark message board is a cool place to talk also. It works the same way as email, but that everyone can read and respond. If you look back, we've had a lot of good times on the ole' message board.. So. Check it out!!

Scrambler Meetings
Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, Jay3983 will be hosting a scrambler meeting in Onett Arcade at 10 PM Eastern time. It's just like a regular meeting except we will be playing scrambler the whole time. Now here is the good part, the top 3 winners will receive points. To get a promotion you need 4 points, so you won't be getting too many points from the scrambler meetings, but hey, it's 3 times more a week you can gain points!
Here are the points you will get if you win:
1st place - 3 Pts
2nd place - 2 Pts
3rd place - 1 Pt

All trivia will be related to Earthbound, and most likely hosted by me, unless someone wants to host it sometimes. November's contest is for member recruiting. (This has no relation to the last contest, the winner of the last contest was TMGiygas.)

Prize: The person who recruits the most members will receive 5 points, in addition to 1 point for every member that person recruited.

Each member that recruits 20 or more members receives 1 point for every member they recruited.

Everyone else gets 1 point for every two members they recruit.

Duration: This contest will end November 27th. It starts, now.

Summers
Summers is one of the largest cities, kinda like fourside. I like to compare it to Florida, they are both the type of get a way vacation places you would go to during the winter. Summers features a boardwalk along a beautiful beech with a few stores and extremely high prices, just like in Florida!
Summers also has a "poorer" side to it. On the east side is what looks like a fishing village called Toto. Be sure to visit here too.

Summers Travel Steps

Get Stoic Club Phone number
At a house in ToTo a guy inside will know the number to the Stoic Club. Once you get the number call the club and make a reservation.

Visit Stoic Club
after making the reservations you may enter Stoic Club anytime you like. There are some weird people in here, but your looking for 1 in particular. A guy will point out the captains wife, go over to her and ask her about magic cake.

Eat magic cake!
After you talk to the magic cake lady go meet her at her cart down by the beach.
After eating the cake your team will "mentally visit" Dalaam.

Dalaam
In Dalaam you will be playing as Prince Poo. The main idea here is for Poo to complete his training course and then meet you in Summers

Complete Poo's Training
Nothing hard to do here. Climb up the rope to reach your teacher. He will Tell Poo that he is going to disable a part of his body "Arms, legs eyes, etc." Each time he says this, let him do it. No matter what he wanst to break, just let him do it. In the end he will say you passed.

Talk to the master
After the training return to the master in the shrine. He will tell you about Ness and his friends. He tells Poo to leave Dalaam and go help Ness on his Quest. Then, Poof, Poo is in Summers with the rest of the gang. Now you have your full team.

Go to the Museum
With Poo in your party you will be able to get into the upstairs room of the library, but at a cost. The guy blocking the door asks for Poo's Gem. Give it to the guy and he'll let you in. But watch out before you enetr this room you'll have to fight a bad guy. After defeating him you will be able to copy the Hieroglyphs.

Get phone call
Before you leave the museum you will get a call from a guy in the Fourside Museum. He tells you he made a discovery and wants you to see it.

Fourside Museum
Talk to the curator and he will tell you to get him an autograph of Venus, the new singer in town.

Meet Venus at Topolla Theatre
Go backstage and talk to Venus. She will give you her autograph on a bannana peel, not something good to get it on, but it will work. Return to the Museum and give the curator the autograph, he will now let you inside the next room.

Shining Spot in the sewers
You'll find that the room in the museum led you to the Fourside sewers. Down here you will fight the Plague Rat of Doom, get the Magnet Hill Melody, and get the Carrot Key. Since the strategy guide is poorly designed in some places, I can't give you a list and stats of the monsters, but I can give you some info.

Plague Rat of Doom
This guy isn't Too Hard. Just hit him with the best you have and keep filling your life. If you have a high enough IQ or are near it, I reccomend trying to get to IQ 45 so you can fix the Broken Bazooka for Jeff. It is a VERY good weapon for Jeff to use, it will help greatly in this battle. Use the Heavy Bazooka as a item. You have infinite ammo so don't worry about running out.

After defeating the rat you will end up behind the department store in the small area where you could see from the street. Record the Magnet Hill melody here and get the Carrot Key in the gift Box. The Carrot Key is used to remove the black rabbits blcoking the cave in Dalaam.

Back to Dalaam "shining Spot"
Remember the cave here with the black rabbits blocking your way? Use the carrot key here and they will leave, exposing the entrance to the Pink Cloud cave.
Hint, Make sure you have the Franklin Badge for this area.

Thunder & Storm
This is pobably one of the easiest Shining spots in the game. Remember the Franklin Badge? If you haven't been carrying it with you this whole time, then get it back from Escargo Express and make sure it's in your items. With the badge these guys can barely scratch you. Hit them with magic and Jeff's bazooka, they will be dead in no time. After defating them, take that Franklin Badge, shine it up real nice, turn it sideways, and stick it straight up their candyass's!
Little bit of rock fever there, sorry. Now, go record the Pink Cloud melody and be on your merry way.

Talk to captain in Toto
The captain will be so happy that you cheered his wife up, that he offers to take you across the ocean in his Ship. The waters may look calm at the dock, but somewhere out there, Moby Dicks cousin the Kraken lurks. Be sure to save your game and buy some supplies for the battle.

Defeat Kraken
Just like everyother boss in this game, he won't be too hard if you have high enough levels. Hit him with everything you have and watch your HP. Paula's PSI Freeze attacks work great for this battle, and don't forget about Jeff's bazooka.

Rainbow Blood Cheat
Collect 100 ant heads of any color to unlock the rainbow blood cheat. You can activate this cheat by going to the Cheat Menu, which is located on the Options.

Jet Force Kids Cheat
Collect 200 ant heads to unlock the Jet Force Kids cheat, which can be activated from the Cheats/Options menu. This cheat will turn the game's main characters into kids.

Ants into Pants Cheat
This cheat turns all the enemy drones into stick figures with big pants. "Ants into Pants" becomes available in the Cheats menu (located under Options) as soon as you have collected 300 enemy heads.

Reach High Up Gems
In order to grab the many health gems located in seemingly unreachable areas -- such as on the SS Anubis generators or on beams in the cave levels -- shoot them using your pistol or machine gun. If you hit them correctly, they will move and slide down to your level.

Secret Flame Thrower Ammo
If you're low on Flame Thrower ammo, look for Tribals that carry lanterns. Shoot these Tribals once to make them drop their lanterns (be careful not to kill them), then pick them up to use the fire as Flame Thrower ammo

Selective Ammo
If you're running low on ammo for the Shotgun, Pistol or Machine Gun, select the weapon you want to refill (even when it's empty) when collecting weapons from dead enemies. This will automatically give ammo to the weapon you picked. This strategy is invaluable to keep your Machine Gun ammo count high.

Kjleftin's Picture Contest

There are photographers in the game of EB, they come at randomn times and take pictures of places that you will remember at the end of the game.
In this contest, you will be the photographer. You will need to get an emulater and the rom of EB (look at legal disclaimer at end). When you have the rom of EB, you can go around the world of EB and take a picture of yourself of where you are by pressing Print Screen located in the upper right of your keyboard (or at least my keyboard). You can send in all pictures to Kjleftin@aol.com. You can send it in a download or a picture in e-mail. I will look at all the pictures and decide the best one. The winner will get 10 tokens. The runner up will get 4 tokens. The second runner up will get a message from me saying "Haha, you almost made it, stinks for you" (j/k). Make sure your pictures are in a nice place. They can be in front of a town sign, or anything that has significance. It can be a funny picture too. The only rules are it must be a picture of EB for the SNES (No EB ZERO) and it must have ness in it, it can have other people in it too though. Happy photographing.

Legal disclaimer for emulater and rom - me, EBG Dragon, or any other member in the sharks are not responsible for what you do with the rom or emulator. These are legal as long as you own the original cartridge that you bought. If you do NOT have the original cartride or gaming system, you have exactly 24 hours to delete that thing off your computer. If you don't, well the computer police aren't gonna come to your house and shoot you but if it is found, you will have to pay a fine and possible arrest.

Random Prizes Contest

To try and boost member activity I'm going to start a simple new contest. I will be giving away random prizes to the member that earns the most points in-between each newsletter. Since this is a new contest I can't tell you exactly what the prizes will be, but I have a few idea's. I've got some good Baseball rookie cards. Tons of football and basketball cards I don't want. I'll see what I can put together for you guys.
This weeks prize will be a novel based on the old Nintendo game Master Blaster.
I don't know if any of you guys remember the game, but It's a good little book. The book is in good condition and may even be worth some money, who knows. Eventually I will have a list of prizes for you to chose from, but for now, I'm encouraging you all to read a book.
One obvious thing I will need from the winners is their address. I can't send it to you unless you tell me. I assure you the address will only be used for the prizes and I will erase the address after I am done with it. If you can't give me your address, maybe a friend or relative will let you have it sent to them.
Postage will be paid by me. "Sucks for me" Don't expect the prizes to be too big. I may throw in an old SNES or Sega game once in a while, but other than that I won't be giving away any playstations or Nintendo 64's. Everyone is eligible for the contest so I won't even have to ask people if they want to be in it. If you have any idea's for prizes, let me know.
