News and Updates
Club News Well, despite the alleged cancellation of one of the most anticipated games of all time, life goes on. I hope to all that is good and holy that Nintendo will one day change their minds or a rom can be found on the internet. Anything so we can just PLAY THIS GAME. In honor to the game, I have constructed the EarthBound 64 Shrine at the Moonside Homepage. Check it out. I also added a new section to the newsletter called the Mother 3 Updates. It will serve as a memorium center and a place that will direct you to Mother 3 mp3s, images, and videos. This section will be located under the News and Updates section at the top of every newsletter.

Participate! I need more of you guys to send in polll votes and whatnot. Sorry about the late arrival of last week's newsletter, but when I tried to send it with inernet mail, it screwed up and I had to get our new postman, kwalka to send it out. Reminder: don't reply to kwalka with questions or trivia, because it won't get to ME if you do...

Vote For the NL Background! - I need to distinguish a good background color for the newsletter, I kinda like this one (Light Yellow) or white. I want it to be simple and not too attention-grabbing... I may just stick with this color though...
Vote from these choices:
___Vote___ ___Vote___ ___Vote____ ___Vote___ ____(white)____
Yellow Light Blue Light Green Light Gray Plain White
Keep it the way it is. (Light Yellow)

Mother 3 Updates
This week in Mother 3 updates: Here is the news story from IGN.com.

==Earthbound 64 Cancelled==
Sorry "Mother" fanatics -- Hal's Shigesato Itoi
confirms the termination of N64's Earthbound title.

Some bad news before Spaceworld: Earthbound 64 (Mother 3 in Japan) has apparently been terminated for good. The title's designer, Shigesato Itoi, released a statement yesterday commenting that the game's development cycle was laced with problems and that he simply doesn't have the time to complete it in light of new projects he's working on for Nintendo's next-generation console.
Earthbound 64 was under development since the early days of Nintendo 64 and was scheduled to release in Japan later this year. However, it should be noted that Itoi had expressed frustrations with the project previously in several interviews with the Japanese press, explaining that the jump from 2D to 3D really put the development team at an unexpected disadvantage and that they had been scrambling to deal with it ever since.

Earthbound 64 has been removed from Nintendo's Japanese products list for Nintendo 64 and, according to Itoi, is not scheduled for release on the company's next-generation console either.

Images and stuff next week.

Ranks
Ranks Update: New Ranks are in!!! Just because the upper ranks are not filled up doesn't mean you are not worthy of the position!!! I thought it would be a good idea to start the ranks near the bottom so promotions and demotions will be easier to chart. (Instead of, say some one being randomly chosen near tohe top of the ranks, and then cannot be necessarily promoted...) So don't be mad if you are a Sentry Robot, and someone who put in the same amount of effort as you is a Cafe Regular. Ranks should change drastically over the next few weeks...

Member Info/Promotions and Demotions
I have done something worthy of a promotion
In the club, you are promoted and demoted according to your behavior and participation. I'll be straight with you: If you don't do anything, you won't be demoted. Yes I meant to write DEmoted. I understand if you just want to join the club and read newsletters. I used to do that when I was in other clubs. If you purposely try to harm the club, you will be demoted, and only then. You can be promoted though, and with promotion comes great happiness! Here are the top five things you can do to get promoted:

1. Send me an old Moonside Newsletter: Promoted 3 Ranks!
2. Recruit 5 members: Promoted 1 Rank
3. Advertise on EB Message Boards: Promoted 1 Rank (If i get more members because of the ad, you are promoted again) Note: I have no AOL, so I cannot do this anymore = VERY IMPORTANT.
4. Help find other clubs to advertise with: Promoted Once
5. Help with Web Design and Logos: Twice Promoted

You need to notify me of your accomplishment though, did you think that a promotion would come automatically?!? I would prefer you send old Newsletters, or help with logos!!! ~Red

Make up a trivia for the newsletter!!!
Yes! YOU can submit some trivia answers! See if you can stump the entire club! The trivia in this newsletter is NOT random questions. My trivia usually follows a simple formula, which you may have not previously noticed. The formula:
1. A simple Who am I? question with a hint.
2. An "Unscramble This" question
3. A "who" question.
4. A "why" question.
5. A "where" question.
You may follow this formula or not. All I ask is 5 good trivia questions. So, why not
Make up some trivia?

Moonside Polls
Last week, fittingly enough, I asked you about the cancellation of Mother 3. Most of you had the same response. Let's examine the results, shall we?

"How do you feel about the cancellation of Mother 3, aka EarthBound 64?"

1. I'm Pissed as hell... (100%!!!)
...why go into the other choices? I think we know the majority of the votes went to choice number one. Now, let's see how people feel about it...

"SCREW NINTENDO. THEY SCREWED US OVER FOR THE LAST TIME. I SAY WE ALL BOYCOTT THEM!!!" - HardCoreMatingly

"No EarthBound 64 no new Nintendo products for me. Ever." - CrazedMogX

This week's Poll:

Battle Arena

Last week's Battle: Ness vs. Poo

We all know you voted for Ness, except a few who voted for Poo, so Ness wins!
his section will be leaving us for a while, unless I get some requests for it to return. I find it the most lacking out of all our member participation activities. Maybe it will make a monthly appearance on the web site...?

Moonside Interviews
This week's Interview: CrazedMogX!!!
Next Up: JAY3989
Sign up for an Interview.
What you are about to read is an actual live interview that took place between RedArwing and CrazedMogX the night the newsletter was published. The events in this manuscript are true, and not staged.

CrazedMogX:great to be here
RedArwing3: yes it is
RedArwing3: this is our first live interview
RedArwing3: OK, to start off, the always interesting question, where did you first hear about EarthBound?
CrazedMogX: Well I used to subscribe to Nintendo Power and they had a preview of EarthBound and I just recently got into RPGs because my friend Antonio lent me a copy of Final Fantasy 2 and it seemed like a great game
CrazedMogX:
Back in 95
RedArwing3: Yes, I remember that issue... anyways, what makes the game so enjoyable to this day?
CrazedMogX: Well, I think it has to be the replay value, most RPGs are fun the first time you play through them, but when you finish them you never want to try it again. I could open up a file in EarthBound to this day and play without getting bored
RedArwing3: True, true...
RedArwing3: What other games are you playing now?
CrazedMogX: Currently I'm playing Zelda: A Link to the Past and Final Fantasy Tactics
RedArwing3: Are you enjoying the club?
CrazedMogX: Yeah, I love the fact that you revived the club because other than you theres only 1 EB club around, The EarthBound Gang, it's great to see clubs about EB
RedArwing3: Quick, name as many EB Clubs as you can that were around at one time or another!
CrazedMogX: The Sharks, Mr Saturn Nation, Rowdy Mice, Students of Snow Wood, Flying Men, Ness's Followers, Exit Mice, Desert Monkeys, Yesman Jrs club, I forget the name, that's about all I remember
RedArwing3: Not bad!
RedArwing3: Hmmm... I'll see if I can name any you missed.
RedArwing3: Foursiders.... and thats it.
RedArwing3: Oh well, they will all be remembered.
RedArwing3: Favorite game ever?
CrazedMogX: Now that's a tough question.....it would have to be either EarthBound, Final Fantasy 2, Zelda 2: Adventures of Link, Mega Man 3, or Super Mario Bros 3
CrazedMogX:
But probably EarthBound
RedArwing3: Anything you wanna say to all those clubbers out there before we leave?
CrazedMogX: Yes actually there is, if anyone was thinking about starting an EarthBound club and is serious about it, please e-mail me and lets talk about if we should make a club
RedArwing3: YES! Good idea! We need more clubs to keep this thing alive!
RedArwing3: Thanks for letting me interview you, Mog.
CrazedMogX: No problem Red
RedArwing3: Members: Keep on playin' SNES, and recruit more members!
RedArwing3: peace out.

Member's Top Five
This section is a member's top five list. You can send in a top five list of your favorite games BY CLICKING HERE.

This week's top five list was donated by our Member of the Week, CrazedMogX. Truly a fine list of games. (I noticed that I own all of them in some form or another...)

Top 5 by CrazedMogX
The Super Nintendo was a system that produced some memorable RPGs in this list I will attempt to rank the significance of them in a top five list.

1. EarthBound - I don't think anyone will argue with this one, and nothing needs to be said about it because I'm sure everyone loves EB in this club.
2. Final Fantasy 2 - (I go by American names) - A fun, interesting RPG that is sure to get any newbie to this video game genre hooked (it did for me).
3. Chrono Trigger - The graphics are amazing, the plot is intense, the soundtrack is great, but most of all this is extremely fun (especially when you're in 600 AD and 1000 AD).
4. Final Fantasy 3 - The most overrated RPG ever. It's hard to get intoat first and too difficult for the average gamer. Still once you get a feel for it you will be amazed by this game.
5. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - Some might say this is an Adventure game or Action-RPG but I have a loose definitionon what an RPG is. This game while not the best Zelda (it could even be the worst perhaps) is still damn good. The fun factor is amazing and the challenge is intense.

Send in your top five.

Conclusion
A
nother newsletter come and gone, another week... It's Labor Day weekend, so as soon as I finish this and mail it on over to kwalka, I'm gonna RELAX. Maybe plat a little Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy VII tomorrow, but right now, I'm gonna get some sleep.... maybe later though. It really is unpleasant having to wake up at 6:20 AM every morning so you can catch the bus at 7, then ride 45 minutes to school... ANYWAYS, I've been thinking about updating the website with MP3s and other stuff. I have quite a bit of EarthBound music files on my computer, and I'd love to share the with the world. That may just be a dream, but in the meantime, go download off napster. I hope everyone isn't going homocidal about EB64, this battle is not yet over, so don't give up. Brush your teeth, go recruit members,
