The effects of Cerebral Palsy on body movement and posture vary wildly, most commonly causing muscles to become stiff and weak. For some children the effects of Cerebral Palsy are hardly noticed, for others the effects may be more profound, causing involuntary movements, problems with speech or balance, or learning difficulties.
The important thing to remember is that each child with Cerebral Palsy is unique in the way that he or she is affected. Some may be able to do a great deal for themselves; others may need long-term help with feeding, talking and all the other things most people take for granted.
