We got our official start to our vacation in Northern California, but there is so much to see along the way that it is truly hard to say exactly where the trip began. From Northern California, we worked our way into South Central Oregon to see Crater Lake and take it easy for a couple of days. We then shot over to the Redwood Forest on our way to the southern coast of Oregon. We took 3 wonderful days to go up the coast. Sunsets were wonderful, but the water was very cold. Once we hit the northern part of the Oregon Coast, we crossed over into Washington and headed east. We drove all day and ended up in the North Central part of Oregon at the Columbia River Gorge. We spent two days here. We experienced Jet Boating and the most beautiful waterfalls we have ever seen. After two days of doing nothing...we headed North East into Washington and kept going until we hit Kalispell Montana. Wow!!! What a beautiful place. We spent the better part of the next day at Glacier National before we headed south to our final destination of Yellowstone.
Once in yellowstone, we found our old Faithful of Camping sites on the Snake river and spent 4 days in camp. We saw a lot in those four days! From there we headed north to Mammoth Hot springs for the night. After a day in Mammoth, it was time to go. But not before Alex talked us into White water rafting on the Yellowstone River. Now that was more fun that any of us imagined! Needless to say, we left Yellowstone about 5 hours later than planned and started the grueling trip back to Georgia. We had orginially planned to be home on Saturday morning, but that did not shake down at all. Once all is said and done...this has to be one of the best vacations we have ever taken! You just can not imagine the beauty that lies within our great country. If you have never been out West...you have got to go. If you can not go...this is our humble attempt to bring a little of the West to you. HOPE YOU ENJOY! Kevin, Julie and Alex
