Ever since writing Speed Demon I've had the Speed Racer theme stuck in my head. And, this idea kinda popped up with it.
Pietro gave a yawn. It was early on a very stormy Saturday morning. Pietro lay on his side on the couch, propped up by his elbow, remote in hand.
" Nasty morning, eh?" Lance asked, finally waking up and coming down. He sat in the recliner. Toad leaped down shortly afterwards. A crash of thunder had woken him up. " Whatcha doin'?"
" Cartoons," Pietro said, almost in slow motion, " I'm watching cartoons."
Toad leaped over the back of the couch and landed on Pietro's legs. Pietro let out a startled yelp and kicked Toad onto his face on the floor.
" What cartoon?" Toad asked. It was a valid question as a commercial was on. The theme was ready to begin.
" Speed Racer," Pietro blushed. " Used to watch it all the time as a kid."
" I used to watch the Herculoids," Lance smiled, " An He-Man, of course."
" And Thundercats," Pietro smiled back. " And I think Scooby-Doo was a favorite of mine too."
" Wuzzles," Toad laughed, " And Real Ghostbusters."
They all laughed. A crash of thunder came, not phasing them.
" Sharon, Lois, and Bram's Elephant Show," came a voice. It was Mystique!he sat on the arm of the couch. " Sometimes, I miss the old days."
" Kinda makes you wish we could stay young forever," Lance chuckled.
" We just grew up too fast," Pietro smiled, glancing at him.
" We can't rewind," Toad commented. " It's be nice to see Johny Quest again."
" Dude!" Pietro laughed, ‘ What is this obsession you have with Johny Quest?" He whacked the amphibial one with a pillow.
" No, no!" Mystique smiled, enjoying this innocent quality time with the boys, " Pinwheel."
The boys let out a frightened gasp in unison. " No wonder you are a disturbed lady," Lance commented. Mystique playfully pouted at him. She smiled again, " I could have my childhood back, to some degree, if I wanted." She morphed into Pietro. She picked up his legs and set herself on the cushion, resting Pietro's legs back over her lap. Pietro's eyes got wide and he took a closer look. He let out a conieted laugh.
" Oh, my God! I'm am just too sexy! I am gorgeous!" He grabbed Mystique quickly, who was still in his form, and kissed her, " Oh, yeah!" He settled back down, resting his legs over Mystique's lap again. She made a mental note to never morph into Pietro again as the other two laughed. His attention, however, was quickly averted to the television.
=Speed, you must not be in the race!=
And a commercial. A commercial for Smacks Cereal. Toad blushed at the sudden memory of the old tattered plush by his pillows.
" Fred Penner was cool," Pietro suddenly said. He recieved arched brows, " What? Nature rocks!" He stopped and let out wild laughter as his pathetic pun. After a few minutes, the show finished and credits reeled.
" Who's up for Pound Puppies?" Pietro smiled. Toad leaped for the remote, but Pietro was too fast. " Dude, I'm not watching Pound Puppies!"
" You'll watch whatever I watch!" Pietro hissed. " I have the remote."
" No!" The two began a childish chase. Lance and Mystique laughed as Pietro toyed with Toad. He finally gave up and crouched at his spot on the floor. But, the theme wasn't Pound Puppies.
" No!" Toad yelped, " Not My Little Pony!"
Lance and Pietro let out a scream. Pietro swiftly changed the channel. " Hey, look! Transformers!"
" Blue's Clues is on," Mystique mentioned. She was the one recieving arched brows now. Pietro, without taking his arched look from her, changed the channel again. Lance cheered to see old He-Man reruns on. The boys agreed on that.
" I have the power!" Lance laughed. Pietro and Toad pointed at him with sneers. Thunder clapped. Mystique laughed as Pietro sat down. She grabbed his legs and dragged him long ways, resting his legs across her lap again. He gave her a very disturbed look, but shook off the feeling and settled that way.
