           TO SEE HER AGAIN

Her voice was filled with emotion.
Quiet tears streamed down her loving face
Saying things words never could.
Her gentle blond hair made her appear
Far younger than she really was,
Like a child wise far beyond her years.
Being forgiving, she showed me
How wrong my actions had been
Better than anyone else before or since.
She also showed me I could do
Was more than I thought myself capable of doing.
To see her again I would sacrifice
Many things I thought to be important
Such as money, fame, reputation, or even privacy.
True love is not found very often.
Some people never find it.
When it comes, you should grab it and keep it.
Memories of the actions, the words, the emotions,
The thoughts, the pain, the feeling of helplessness,
And the love that lasted through it all
Keeps me going during times of crisis
Over a decade after the event itself.
If I could see one person again,
Laura is the one I would see.
I do not know if she is married
Or even if she is still alive,
But love conquers all these things.
What she gave me will stay with me
For as long as I can remember it
And probably even longer.
