         INTO THE UNKNOWN

As I journey into the unknown
I wonder what is out there waiting for me.
No matter how well I prepare
It will always be something I did not expect.
Whether a pleasant surprise
Or an unexpected tragedy
I will not know in advance.
My imagination can get the best of me
Until I think the slightest breeze
Is a monster about to tear me to shreds.
Normally it is not,
But enough doubt remains to keep me guessing.
No matter how well I explore,
The unknown will always exist
And no part of it will disappear
Unless I explore it.
Though dangers do indeed await,
It may be a greater danger to stay
In a world full of hate and ignorance.
What can be gained on such a journey?
What can be lost?
These are the things I ponder
As I continue ... into the unknown.
