Annual Trip to Callaway GardensMonday, February 21, 2005This is a really fun trip! We go every year! It's usually very nice weather on this day. In January or February, e-mail me to let me know to expect you! We'll meet at the Visitor's Center at 10:00 a.m. I'm looking forward to seeing all of you there!Following are some details about the attractions. Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center Here at the nation's largest tropical butterfly conservatory, more than a thousand beautiful butterlies flutter about freely as gruests stroll through an enchanting tropical environment and learn about the amazing life cycle of these winged beauties. Mr. Cason's Vegetable Garden It's charm is irresistible with rows of vegetables and flowers that paint this 7.5-acre demonstration garden in glorious color. An impressive herb garden fills the air with a subtle aroma. For more than a decade this has been the southern filming site of the PBS series The Victory Garden. * The garden won't have much growing, since it is February. John A. Sibley Horticultural Center The beauty of the plants and flowers here is unsurpassed. Any time of the year a stroll through this unique complex takes you along paths of native and exotic plant displays. Even those without a green thumb find the beauty and variety astonishing. Ida Cason Callaway Memorial Chapel For a time of quiet reflection, our guests can walk one of many nature trails or visit the idyllic Memorial Chapel. The Chapel, nestled in the woods next to a soothing stream, has beautiful stained glass windows depicting the four seasons and the forests of Georgia. Pioneer Log Cabin Time goes back to the 1800's at the Pioneer Log Cabin. This authentic two-room log cabin is filled with intriguing reminders of days long ago. Discovery Bicycle Trail Bicycling enthusiasts love the 7.5-mile Discovery Bicycle Trail that winds through the woodlands up and down gentle hills. Miles of walking trails provide hours of pleasure. Directions Callaway Gardens is on U.S. Hwy. 27 in Pine Mountain, Georgia,
60 minutes southwest of Atlanta and 30 minutes north of Columbus. Take
I-85 South from Atlanta to I-185 and continue south to Exit 14*. Turn
