As you pay your bill at the local diner, you remember the words of the waitress...
As you round a turn in the road, you hear a loud POP!!! Then, your car goes dead. The car coasts to a stop on the side of the road. You pull a flashlight out of the trunk and look under the hood. "Just great," you mutter. A belt has broken and you are more than ten miles from town. You are trying to decide what to do when your flashlight flickers and dies.
So, here you are, stuck on the side of a strange road in the dark. There isn't even a visible moon. Then, as if on cue, the clouds part and the moon lights up the area.
Your car came to a stop right in front of a beautiful old house. Hanging over the driveway is a sign with the word "Blakemore" written in large, elegant letters. The voice of the waitress comes back to you as you read the sign. It's an odd coincidence you have to admit, but every town has its strange stories. It's much too far to walk back to town now and it looks as if a light is visible, there may be someone home. Maybe you can use their phone or something. Ignoring the chill running down your back, you begin the long walk up the driveway.
The walk seems to take forever. There are barren trees along the path that make the place seem very lonely. You pull your coat a little tighter in a failed attempt to lessen the chill. Almost out of nowhere, Blakemore Manor stands ominously before you.
The place is not what it seemed from the road. The old place is falling apart, the gate has rusted and fallen over, the windows are cracked, and the shutters are falling off the house. You don't know how you could have thought someone may have still lived here. It seemed fine from the road. It must have been the fog playing a trick on you. You are just about to turn around and leave when, from the corner of your eyes, you see a light flicker in an upstairs window. That must have been what you saw before."At least the bricks haven't crumbled yet," you think as you walk up the weed-covered path leading to the house. As you near the old place, you notice a path going to the left, leading to the side of the house. Which way will you go?
Go to the front door.
Go down the path.
