Basic Cat Care
Cornish Rex need the same basics as any
living creature!
Food
Any premium food will do. Try to feed a
consistent diet and if you must make changes do so slowly. Banzaibabies eat Iams.
Water
Fresh water daily or more often in the cat
drops food in the water. Cornish Rex are active and need plenty of fresh water.
Shelter
Cornish Rex are indoor cats. Fresh air and
sunshine are important in a controlled environment that offers the Rex complete safety. A
Cornish Rex is no match for the smallest vehicle. Their friendly nature allows them to
approach even the most rotten of individuals....they will go to any stranger which could
put them in horrible jeopardy. Though a hardy little cat, they are not designed to fight
off the forces of nature.
Love/Affection
Cornish Rex are, by their very nature, loving
and affectionate animals. That love must be returned. An ignored Cornish can be a
destructive and unhappy cat. If you don't have the time to devote daily to a cat, you may
not want a Cornish Rex.
Grooming
Cornish Rex, like all cats, need daily
grooming. Usually just petting your Rex daily is enough. There are some grooming aids that
can decrease the likelihood of stray hair and dander. The most affordable is just a
regular wash cloth, air dried. Rub your cat down with one of these about 50-60 strokes a
day and you'll solve all your grooming problems!
Health
Regular health care is essential. Keep shots
up to date and arrange for regular check-ups for allover health and especially dental
health. Cornish Rex can be very long-lived if you help!
Potty
Cornish Rex are typically very clean cats.
They adapt readily to a litter pan. Just be sure it's in a private place and clean. You
and your cat will have to figure out the litter that's best for you. We use a premium clay
litter. Never put the litter pan next to the food...unless you regularly eat in your
bathroom!
