Hydro World's patented Magnetic Fluid Conditioner (MFC) is a Class II unit as classified by Gruber and Carda's ""Performance Analysis of Permanent Magnetic Type Water Treatment Devices". July 1981 South Dakota School of Mines research report.
The units are so designed that 100% of the fluid to be treated passes through multiple venturi or magnetic intersects at 90 degrees to the magnetic field. This produces the maximum magnetohydrodynamic effect as measured by Bush, Bush, & Parker, "Magnetic Water Treating Devices" Baylor University 1984.
The MFC's require no external power nor do they need to be regenerated. The permanent magnetic material supplies the force field to circuits similar to a permanent magnet motor or electrical generators. The only energy used is a slight pressure drop in the fluid across the venturi in the MFC.
The MFC varies in length and diameter depending upon the application and flow rate required. Installation is in line with the discharge of the supply or circulating pumps requiring no other tools or skills other than is common to a pipefitter. Vertical or horizontal installation is acceptable. Unit size is dependent upon the flow rate, not the existing line size. For example, a six-inch pipe carrying 1000 G.P.M. would require an eight (8) inch unit. Bell reducers or reducing flanges are used to match the unit to the line size. Optional threads, flanges, or plain ends for victaulic couplings are available through 4 inch. Flanges or victaulic couplings are optional through 8 inch. All units above 8 inch are flanged.
The body of the unit is stainless steel with Copper-Nickel or Monel optional. External magnetic circuits are carbon steel. The internal materials for venturi and magnetic intersects are carbon steel or stainless steel with optional electroless nickel plated. All other components except magnetic material are stainless steel.
