RED STORM M-player Strategies

  • Multiplayer tactics

  • I'ts always good to secure your ore field to help prevent enemy attacts on your ore trucks, but I have found a way to give units escorts without any need to administer them. Select the units you wish to be the escorts and press CTRL+ALT the green curser will turnyellow. Holding down CTRL+ALT and clicking on the unit you wish to escort will makethe other units follow the ore truck or whatever it is when it goes out of the units fireingrange. I found this most useful and theose units, as well as diverting enemy attacks on your ore trucks kill the near by enemy ore trucks. From Ben Vanderlinde

  • If you are playing with the Soviets, you can sell your tech center, and you will still have all the constructions you got with it.

  • If you are Soviets, build LOTS of Mammoth Tanks. They can destroy almost anything if used in numbers. They can shoot air units, infantry, and heavy armored tanks. If built in teams every now and then, Your enemy will be trying extremley hard to aleast get past them!.

  • If ore in your area is running low, build structures towards the ore, and when you are close enough, build another refinery to keep a fast cash flow.

  • Build a cruiser or a sub, and a transport. Put the cruiser in a group with the transport, and press F to make them a formation. Now the cruiser will go as fast as the transport!

  • Have a barracks ready to place and a Tanya almost ready, on hold. Then, Chronoshift an MCV next to the enemy base. Deploy the MCV, place the barracks, make the barracks the primary building. Then, finish building the Tanya and send her to blow up a building of your choice. Also, start building base defense such as turrets around the MCV also.

  • When you attack, always get rid of the construction yard first, otherwise destroying the other buildings will not be very effective.

  • Build 9 rifle soldiers at the start of the game and send them to your enemies base and destroy the small power plant before they have a chance to build an advanced one. Thiscuts off their entire power supply. Then build a few tanks and finish them off.

  • Use infantry to attack Gun Turrets and Tesla Coils if there aren't any Pillboxes, Guard Dogs, Minigunners, or Flamethrowers.

  • Build four rocket troopers and one medic and make them a team. Move them in front of your base and build a cement wall around them.

  • Always have a transport with an MCV, a Ore Truck and some units suzh as Mammoth tanks in it and put it in a place where your enemy won't think of. Then if you're losing, unload the transport somewhere and build your base.

  • Build 20 v2 rockets and escort them with some mammoth tanks. Tesla coils are out of range for them and the amount of time for them to reload wont matter because of strength in numbers.

  • Place as much mines as you can to the route between the ore fleilds and your enemy's base, Then watch there Ore Truck go up in flames when it goes over it!!

  • Use spys for recon, then move your cruisers just close enough to be able to shoot the enemy's important buildings.

  • 6 migs can take out any building

  • In multi-player games of more than 2 players, ally with one of the other players. When you have enough resources, build an MCV for each other and set it up at the other person's side. Then, unallie with him for a second to use four engineers to take over the construction yard. Then allie again. That way, you will full building options of both the Allies and Soviet.

  • Build atleast 2 MCV'S and take them with a mobile gap generator to a corner where your enemy least expects them. Then, make an ore refinery for each Construction Yard.

  • One way that you can find spies is to not build any rifle infantry at all. Then, when you do see a rifle infantry, click on it just to make sure it is the spy, (you do get rifle infantry when selling buildings) then kill it. spies and if you have attack dogs around your base you dont have to worry about spies.

  • Number your air units before they take off so you can easily re-direct them.

  • You should build an ore truck for every major ore field that you find.

  • Prepare an Iron Curtian as soon as possible. In the mean time make your Tanyas and Chinook. Then, put the Tanya's in the Chinook and place it on the Iron Curtain. Then, fly it to the enemy base. Land next to the enemy's construction yard and toss out the Tanyas. Then use the Tanya's to blow up the Construction Yard, Tech Center, and if possible, the War Factory.

  • Put sandbag walls around groups of buildings to protect from spies.

  • Put a few engineers hiding near Tesla Coils. When they Tesla Coil's are about to blow up, send in the engineers to repair the building to 100% instantly.

  • You can also place walls in front of the Tesla Coils to give it more time to burn up the enemy.

  • Use the AP Mine layer to protect again Tanya and Engineers. Unlike the Allies AT(anti-tank) mine layer, the AP(anti-personnel) mine layer is meant to destroy people.

  • In multiplayer games of 4+ players, you and one of your allies could use an unbeatable strategy. One of you be allies, the other be soviets, and chronoshift an iron curtained cruiser next to an enemy's base.

  • Build a hind, use Iron Curtain on it and send it to the enemy base. While the AA Guns are busy whacking away at the hind send in some Migs to destroy any building of your choice.

  • Build mobile gap generators to follow ore trucks because then, they can't be attacked from the air.

  • Nukes are very effective against power plants.

  • You can use waypoints even though this is not mentioned in the manual. Hold down Q while clicking on the waypoints. Unfortunately this only works on ground units.

  • Always try to have 5 small tanks per mammoth tank. Five small tanks will easily take out a mammoth tank.

  • Spread out your base when you are building it. This is especially effective if your enemy nukes your power plants.

  • Attack on one front, then sneak your Tanya from the other direction.

  • Always have excess power available just in case of a Tanya attack or a nuke.

  • Don't forget about the mine layers, they are a very efficient way of destroying armored vehicles such as tanks and ore trucks. 2 mines can kill any of the mentioned vehicles. They are very fast but they cannot protec themselves, remember to refill them at the service depot once they have laid their full supply. Refilling the mine layers does not cost any money.

  • Use fake structures to divert attacks but make sure you don't place a fake structure next to its real counterpart.

  • Build an MCV, move it out into the open, then surround it with the fake structures, to make it look like a functioning base. Addd in some riflr infantry to add to the realism.

  • Chronoshift a Radar Jammer next to the Soviets radar dome right before an attack.

  • If you suspect a mine field use CTRL + fire button to fire upon suspected locations.

  • If you are the Allies, make sure you design your base so that the Migs and Hinds cannot attack your base in any way without going through your air defenses.

  • Always protect your cruisers when attacking. Use only Destroyers, because of their ability to fire off 2 depth charges.

  • 2 direct depth charge hits on a sub kill it.

  • Never forget air defenses, 5 migs can kill a construction yard.

  • Place camouflaged pillboxes in places of your base that are susceptible to paratrooper attacks or tanya invasions.

  • If there are trees blocking a route into a base or any path, you can use migs or artillery to kill them.

  • With the Soviets, build one airfield early to get paratroopers and spy planes.

  • If the enemy only has a few Tesla Coils, a good method to get a better tank attack is to build 10-20 attack dogs, send them in just ahead of your tanks and while the Tesla Coils are busy frying the dogs you can destroy them with your tanks. This is animal cruelty but it's only agame, and the tactic sometimes works too!

  • Position an engineer near any critical building. When the building is almost destroyed, fix it with the engineer. The building will be repaired to 100% instantly.

  • Take out your opponents power first. If your opponent has no power, he will build things extreamly slow, allowing you to walk into his base without any fear of more reinforcements.

  • Overwelm your enemy with small tanks. They are cheaper and fire much faster than any other tank.

  • Nuke 2-3 or more of the enemys advanced powerplants and at the same moment send in lots of migs against his construction yard. Then your enemy won't have any power and his AA-GUNS will be offline.

  • Chronoshift a cruiser near your enemy's base. The crusier can destroy a few buildings before he warps back to his original place.

  • Never use the Chronosphere on an APC full of Engineers. The Engineers die on the way.

  • If you see a rifle infantry unit that you can't move, shoot it, it is a spy. Another good way to spot spies is to put map on full view and if you see any units your color running toward your base, you know it is a spy.

  • You can select an air unit while it is in mid-air by drawing a box on its shadow.

  • In multiplayer games of 4+ players, you can see what your enemies are typing by using the spy to infiltrate the enemy radar dome.

  • Send a spy into an enemy's subpen to get the sonar pulse to see where the enemy's subs are.

  • Mine layers don't run over enemy mines.

  • If you use CONTROL to attack a unit and then set waypoints (Q), the unit will continue to fire at the enemy while moving. This tactic can be used to fire upon enemy units that are following you while retreating or to circle a heavy unit with a fast unit such as a light tank.

  • That's all for now, I'll be adding more soon.
